JUGS #772

I recently treated myself to some new cardstocks and have spent the week organizing, swatching and labeling.  I will post my opinions in a future post but I have to say, I am loving them all.

I had a few minutes to spare this afternoon so I wandered over to the Just Us Girls challenge site to check out this week's prompt.  I was honestly flabbergasted to see that my beach card was chosen as last week's Top Pick.  Totally made my day!!  Thanks to everyone there.

This week is JUGS Stencil Week.  I had one lone NBUS stencil left in the bin so I opted to work with it.  I also have some new cute Easter die sets so I decided to get a head start on next year.  (Truth be told, I really don't make Easter cards but thought this chick would be cute for baby gift tags.)

I began my card by stenciling a trio of pale pastel Distress Oxides onto a panel of smooth white cardstock.  I die cut the cute chick using colored cardstocks (many of them new) and assembled it as per the package instructions.  I used the coordinating stamp set for the greeting and the honeycomb ball instructions.

If you use my Spellbinders Affiliate Links to make any purchase it earns me a bit of crafting cash at no additional expense to you. TIA!

Just Us Girls Challenge #771

I had some free time on Friday so I popped in to the Just Us Girls challenge to see what their prompt was for the week.  It turns out it's Mood Board Week, which is definitely my favorite.  Other than for my grandson, I don't make Easter cards so I went with the soft colors as my inspiration.

I had two pockets full of white die cuts that I created whilst visiting crafty friends last year.  I chose a couple of elements from both packets to create a peaceful beach themed card using the Mood Board colors for those two pieces of layer cake.

All elements were colored with Distress Oxide inks.  The chair has two layers, the top one popped up with foam tape for a bit of added interest.  I did the same with the starfish.  It's a very simple card but one I know will come in handy.

Food for thought.... Can one count six month old dusty borrowed die cuts as NBUS????  What's your opinion?  LOL!

Supplies:
MFT - Snow Swirls cover plate
Simon Says Stamp - Adirondack chair die
Concord & 9th - Seaside Postage stamp and die set
WPlus9 - Sunshine Layers background die

Thanks so much for visiting!!!  Your time is much appreciated.

One Card - Two Challenges

True to my resolution I am trying to carve out time to play along with other card challenges on the web.  Today I was able to make one card that fits with two of my favorite online challenges, Just Us Girls and Inkspirational.  Another year has past that I didn't mail out Christmas cards so I'm determined to make a few throughout the year, hence this is a holiday card.

The JUGS team has a wonderful mood board this week.  I chose the little winter cabin and the colors to set the scene for my design.

And as luck has it, the snow on the roof was all I needed to once again play along with the INKy team.

I believe this card is self explanatory.  I die cut and assembled the house and then double matted it with two pattern paper layers.  The sentiment was stamped and adhered as part of the door step.

Supplies:
Hero Arts - Gingerbread House Fancy Die set
Spellbinders - To You and Yours stamp set

Thanks so much for visiting!  Your time and comments are most appreciated.

Just Us Girls Challenge #738

I am really enjoying my newly found free time lately and have been spending much of it in my craft room.  Today I am playing with the Just Us Girls blog with a color challenge.  I love this color combination so much that I made a two-fer.  We'll start with the one I am posting to their blog.

And now card #2.  I'm still on the fence as to which I like better.

If these cards look familiar to you it's because it's a CASE of this card I created and posted last week.  In that post I mentioned how I wanted to create one in pink so this challenge gave me the push I wanted/needed.

The construction is very straightforward.  The elements were die cut from colored cardstock (no blending) and adhered to a panel of pink cardstock and then layered again with a scalloped edge panel.  This is a very easy and fun technique that I hope you'll try.

Supplies:
Erin Lee Creative - Layering Dahlia die set
Concord and 9th - Picked Posies die set (yellow center)
WPlus 9 - Sunshine Layers die set (scalloped frame)
Simon Says Stamp - Clean Lines Gratitude stamp/die set
Altenew - Bold Thanks die set

Let me know if you have a favorite!  And as always, thank you so much for visiting my blog.  Your support means so much.

Just Us Girls Challenge #705

One can never have too many Thank You cards so it was an easy decision to hop in and play along with my friends at the Just Us Girls Challenge blog.  Here's my card for their Word Week prompt of Thanks/Thanksgiving.

I don't make or send Thanksgiving cards (oh hell, let's just be real here....I have gotten so bad at sending out ANY cards lately) but I did want to keep with the fall theme.  I die cut the elements out in white and blended them with Distress Oxides, adding in some gold splatters for interest.  I used an embossing folder for the brown panel and delightfully decided that I preferred the debossed side over the embossed side this time around.  The sentiment was heat embossed in gold onto a matching brown cardstock strip.  I'm rather pleased with the way this turned out.

Supplies:
The Greetery - Autumn Harvest die set
The Greetery - Macrame Open Basework die set
Simon Says Stamp - Layered Vines embossing folder
MFT - Bitty Thanks sentiment stamp set
Spellbinders - Gold Pearl stickers

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!  You are much appreciated.

Just Us Girls Challenge #703

My card today was created for the Just Us Girls challenge where they have a unique and fun prompt.

I decided to make mine a Christmas card.

This was so easy to create.  I began with a sheet of heavyweight gray cardstock.  One half was used as the card base.  Another quarter was embossed with a cover plate and cut down a quarter inch to serve as a panel which I popped up with fun foam.  I made my own circle stencil and very lightly blended with white pigment ink.  The remaining pieces are all die cuts.  I am in love with this card and if I were mass producing holiday cards this year (which I am not) this would be the design.  Who knows....maybe next year.  LOL!

Supplies:
Impression Obsession - Tis the Season die
Impression Obsession - Christmas Icons dies
Papertrey Ink - Linen cover plate

Thanks so much for visiting me here in my little corner of the blogosphere!  Much appreciated.

Just Us Girls #700

Today's card was made with my grandson in mind.  He has become obsessed with fishing.  So much so that I've started referring to him as Opie which of course meant I had to show him the beginning of The Andy Griffith Show in order for him to understand my reference.  :-)  As an aside, I've also had to show him clips from Different Strokes (Whatchutalkinbout Willis?) and we've watched The Sandlot for "You're Killing Me Smalls."  Yes, I reference shows and movies A LOT.  ha!

My friends over at the Just Us Girls challenge blog have a new color challenge in celebration of their 700th challenge.  I opted to create my fishing card using their colors.

I had fun mixing and matching the colors when assembling the lures.  I opted for a trio adhered to a textured background and my favorite fishing net die cut.  I stamped the sentiment and used a plank die to create the banner.  I think this is so fun and I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of my two "new to me" sets.

Supplies:
Honeybee Stamps - Lovely Layer Lures dies
Pink and Main - Gone Fishing stamp set
Altenew - Masonry Wall 3D embossing folder
The Greetery - Shiplap Builder die set
Amy Design - Maritime Fishing Net die

Thanks so much for visiting!!!  I appreciate your time and comments.

Just Us Girls #699

Today's card was made for the current Just Us Girls Challenge where the prompt is to CASE a Design Team Member.  There are some really great cards to choose from and in the end I decided upon one by DT member Lisa Kind.  Here's my card.

Lisa used one of Anita Jeram's cute stamps from Colorado Craft Company to create her card so I opted for something similar.  I love these illustrations and don't use them nearly enough.

I stamped, colored and cut out my little party mouse and adhered him to a blended panel which was then adhered to a larger embossed panel.  He'll make a cute celebratory card for just about any occasion.

Supplies:
Colorado Craft Company - Birthday Wishes stamp set
Colorado Craft Company - Party Time stamp set
Altenew - Deck Planks 3D embossing folder

Thanks so much for visiting!!!  I appreciate your time and comments.

Just Us Girls #697

I have been having so much fun with my autumn supplies, both new and old.  I think it's because we don't experience a fall season here in Florida so I'm manufacturing my own in the way of autumnal cards.  Today I'm playing with my friends over at the Just Us Girls Challenge where they have a Fall Mood board this week.

I did something a bit different for me in that I die cut my elements from designer papers rather than my usual method of cardstock blending.  I also chose a designer paper background as my feature panel so this one came together quickly.

Supplies:
Spellbinders - Large DOTM 10/2019
Spellbinders - Autumn Wonder dies
Spellbinders - Envelope of Wonder dies
Honeybee Stamps - Mix of 6x6 papers

Thanks for stopping by!!!

JUGS #696

I found myself with some free time today so I jumped in at the last minute to play along with the Just Us Girls Challenge.  The current Word Week prompt is Moon.

My design began with a Distress Oxide inked night sky background.  To it I added some small die cuts as well as a trio of stamped and die cut ghosts.  I've never been much for Halloween cards but this Boo Sheet stamp set from Miss Ink is one of my all time favs from any catagory.  You will be seeing quite a bit of it in the near future.

Supplies:
Miss Ink - Boo Sheet stamp set
Pink and Main - Fall Wreath Decor dies

This is the second of two posts for today so scroll down if you missed the earlier one.  Thanks so much for visiting!!!

Just Us Girls #662

Today I'm sharing my second Guest DT card for the Just Us Girls challenge blog.  The theme for this week is Heart.

Look at me getting all fancy-like making a shaker window.  *wink*

The first step to creating this card was to die cut a circle opening into the center of a white cardstock panel.  I then stamped the sentiment below the opening before proceeding with the shaker elements.

I die cut an open ring from red cardstock which I placed around the opening as a border.  Hidden behind the pink die cut is an MFT circle shaker bubble.  For me, this is the easiest way to make a shaker card.  I placed some shaker bits into the plastic bubble before adhering the panel onto the card base and then glued the pink die cut over top.  I'm not sure my instructions are all that clear so if you have any questions, please ask.

Supplies:
Honeybee Stamps - Gal Pal stamp set
MFT Stamps - Oceanview Porthole die
MFT Stamps - Pinpoint Heart Circle die
MFT Stamps - Circle Shaker Bubble insert

I'm delighted to be part of this wonderful blog this month. There are some wonderful examples from the DT and I invite you to come take a peek and share your Heart Themed card in the gallery.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

JUGS #661 - January Guest Designer

I was thrilled to be invited as the January Guest Designer for the Just Us Girls challenge blog.  As a member of several Design Teams myself it's often difficult to fit in the time to play along with other challenges but this is one of my top go-tos when my time does allow.  Love these ladies and their challenges!

This week's prompt is a color challenge.  I'm sure you can probably guess it from my card below...

I die cut my images from white cardstock and then blended the bird and flowers with Distress Oxides.  I decided on their position on my kraft panel and then stamped the sentiment in a crisp black pigment ink.  The panel was then adhered to a heavy weight white card base.  I wanted to keep this encouragment card simple so I resisted the urge to add clear droplets.

Supplies:
Cottage Cutz - Bluebird die set
Reverse Confetti - Sentimental Sayings stamp set

I invite you to visit this week's blog post and hope you'll join in on the fun.  Thanks so much to the JUGS team for the invite!  I'll be back next week with another Guest DT post.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

JUGS #656

The fabulous team over at Just Us Girls blog has a challenge this week that's one of my favs.

Holiday Tags!!!

The three beverages are all from one set of dies.  Everything was cut from white cardstock and blended with dye inks to achieve my color choices.  I did a bit of sparkly embellishing on two of the beverages, added each to a bold color of cardstock and adhered them all to a white tag.  These were so fun to make!!!

Supplies:
Cottage Cutz - Coffee and Cocoa die set
Simon Says Stamp - Christmas Tiny Words stamp set
Penny Black - Gift Tag die

Just Us Girl Challenge #652

Today I'm sharing a quick card I made this afternoon for the current Just Us Girls challenge blog where the prompt is Scraps.

I've hoarded a little scrap of an alcohol inked background for ages never knowing what to do with it but also not wanting to part with it.  THIS was just the kick I needed.

The die cut sentiment is an older one and being all one piece, made this very simple to create.  So simple in fact that I made it into a shaker card. :-)  The shaker consists of a total of four identically die cut panels with a layer of acetate between the top and second layer....followed by shaker bits and lastly the alcohol ackground.  (NOTE: I stamped the sentiment prior to assembling all of the layers.)  I punched a few hearts from the remaining sliver of background and used those as design elements.  Here's a closer look at the shaker section....

It makes my heart happy that I finally found a use for my beloved alcohol scrap.

Supplies:
WPlus9 - Fabulous die
WPlus9 - Flock Yeah stamp set
Ranger alcohol inks

JUGS #648

Today's card was created for the current Just Us Girls challenge blog.  Can you guess the prompt from my card?

Basket! Hey, I have one of those.  LOL!

Because of the size of this die set I decided to create a larger card which is approximately 5x7 in size.  The basket was die cut from woodgrain kraft cardstock.  The remaining elements were all die cut from colored cardstocks and shaded with dye inks.  The background panel is a rustic white while the card base is a rustic cream.  The sentiment continues on the inside...."and a hug around the neck."  I finished off the basket trim with gold foil pearls.

Supplies:
Honeybee Stamps - Bushel and a Peck stamp and die set
Studio Katia - gold foil pearls
PaperTrey Ink - rustic cardstocks

Just Us Girls #636

Today I'm playing with my friends over at the JUGS (Just Us Girls) challenge blog. Their challenge is to create a card with a moving element.  I dug through my new goodies and found the perfect thing.

Kitchen Utensils!

My utensils are attached only by mini brads so they swing freely on the the card.  (I knew my 20+ year old mini brads would come in handy again one day.  LOL!)

I die cut the elements in white cardstock and colored them in with Copics.  The b/w background is patterned paper.  The aqua background texture was achieved with an embossing folder.  The sentiment was heat embossed in white onto black cardstock.

I love challenges that get me to think outside my normal box.

Supplies:
Hero Arts - My Monthly Hero and add ons
Stampin Up- Painted Texture embossing folder
Honeybee Stamps - patterned paper (Farm Fresh Holiday pack)

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Just Us Girls #628

I found myself with some extra time on my hands yesterday which is a rare occurrence in this multigenerational household.  Today I'm playing with the gals at JUGS (Just Us Girls) where the prompt is one I couldn't pass up.

Red/Black/White

There is something about this color combo
that always has me striving for a international vibe.

This is a very simple design however it does require some masking.  I stamped the beret and suitcase onto the blank background before stamping them once again onto masking paper.  I masked these images before stamping the bear.  I created another mask for him before stamping the tower.  All that was left was to do some alcohol ink coloring.  Voila! (See what I did there?  LOL!)

Supplies:
Ellen Hutson - Bear Ware Grand Tour

Just Us Girls #618

I told ya I had some extra time and I'm whole heartedly taking advantage of it.  Today I'm playing with the Just Us Girls challenge with a card I've been wanting to make for quite awhile.  I found my inspiration from an ad on social media.

Here's my card:

My inspiration:

The Challenge Prompt:

I was really drawn to the muted colors, patterns and design of the inspiration photo.  Truth be told, I'd love to order that tee but most likely won't.

Creating my card was simple.  I die cut the hearts from patterned paper found in three different 6x6 paper pads made by Honeybee Stamps.  I arranged them onto a panel of rustic white cardstock, stamped the sentiment and popped the the panel up onto a piece of toffee colored cardstock.  Done!  I love the card just as much as the shirt.  :-)

Supplies:
Honeybee Stamps - Autumn Afternoon, Farm Fresh Holiday & Fresh Brewed 6x6 paper packs
Hero Arts - Many Everyday Messages sentiment stamp set
Cardstocks - PaperTrey Ink

Thanks so much for spending part of your day with me.
