CAS Colours and Sketches #450

It's time for our last challenge of 2021 at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog however before we get to the details of the challenge I have a little announcement to make.  After two wonderful years with the group I have decided to step down from the challenge team but we have four new wonderful creators coming on board in 2022.

As always, our final challenge of the year is to pick any 2021 challenge and make a seasonal card.

I chose Sketch Challenge #415 for my card.

I began by running a panel of kraft cardstock through my die cutter using a cover plate to create the swirled background.  The circle was cut from gold mirror cardstock.  The layered poinsettia was stamped and die cut with the third layer heat embossed in gold.  The white heat embossed sentiment spans both the gold circle as well as the kraft panel.  Gold pearls were used as finishing touches.

I invite you to visit the blog for more inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery.  Oh!  Did I mention that there is a prize involved?  We have two prizes up for grabs .... a $20 gift certificate from Stamplorations as well as a $15 gift certificate from Altenew.  Just what are you waiting for?  :-)

Supplies:
Hero Arts - Color Layering Poinsettia stamp set
Altenew - Dotted Swirls cover plate

CAS Colours and Sketches #448

Happy Fifth Tuesday of the Month!  At the CAS Colours and Sketches blog that means we have a Double Challenge for you this week.  We are asking you to combine our new color trio with a sketch for your crafting challenge this week.

No stamping on my card today.

I ran the three colors of cardstock through an embossing folder to create the texture.  I used the same three cardstocks to die cut the crayons and accompanying greeting.  Pretty simple with no embellishments needed.

I invite you to come play along!

Supplies:
Altenew - Deck Planks embossing folder
Concord & 9th - Color Me Happy die set

CAS Colours and Sketches #447

Ready for a new sketch?  Check out the CAS Colours and Sketches blog for this week's new challenge.

I used some embossing techniques and had enough to create two cards this week.
First up is the one displayed on the CC&S blog.

And a bonus card because I didn't want any of that
beautiful clear embossed cardstock to go to waste.

My cards began with a large background stamp, red cardstock and clear embossing powder.  I cut the embossed piece down to 4"x5.25" card panel size to create my first card.  I used an embossing folder to create texture onto a strip of matte gold cardstock which I adhered vertically as in the sketch.  I die cut the sentiment in white with a gold shadow layer and adhered a messy nest of gold metallic thread before adhering the sentiment to the card front.  Card two used the leftovers from the clear embossed piece and is pretty self explanatory in assembly.  I love when I can get a "two-fer" without much effort.

I invite you to visit the blog for more details and inspiration from my fellow teammates.  We'd love to see you card in our gallery!

Supplies:
Background Stamp - (Hero Arts, I think)
Altenew - Angled Mosaic embossing folder
Simon Says Stamp/CZ Design - Merry die

CAS Colours and Sketches #446

It's time for another color challenge at the CAS Colours and
Sketches blog and I think you'll really like this new trio.

I'm still on a Christmas card kick so here's my holiday card using these colors.

I began by ink blending a pink background using Distress Oxides.  Once dry I stamped and silver heat embossed the poinsettia background onto two edges of my panel masking over the section that I wanted to remain empty.  I die cut the greenery and shaded it with more Distress Oxides before adhering it to the panel.  I silver heat embossed the sentiment and added a trio of silver pearls to finish off my card.

I invite you to visit the blog for more inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery!

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp - Poinsettia Background
WPlus9 - Holiday Cheer stamp set
Poppystamps - Greenery Bundle die set

CAS Colours and Sketches #445

We have a new sketch up over at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog and it's one I think you'll really like.

I'm still having fun with holiday cards so I continued
with the theme but in a rather non-traditional way.

I began by running my white card panel through an embossing folder for some wintery texture.  I loved it so much I used the same texture on my horizontal tag.  I stamped, Copic colored and die cut my bird and tea cup.  I also stamped out a greeting with I tucked under the cup, added the twine bow and some tiny white gems to finish my card off.  This could easily be made into a generic occasion by switching out the sentiment.

Supplies:
PinkFresh Studios - December Days stamp set
Fun Stampers Journey - Cozy Knit embossing folder
Penny Black - Deckled Tag die

CAS Colours and Sketches #444

It's Tuesday which means that we have a new host with a new set of challenges over at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog.  Joanne has selected this color trio to start out the month.

I went with the obvious theme of Christmas using the colors to create a trio of poinsettias.

This card design is as easy as it looks.  I pulled out three cardstocks that closely matched the challenge colors (plus white) to create my poinsettia layered die cuts, adding a tiny red jewel in the center of each completed flower.  I then stamped the horizontal line, added the sentiment below and adhered the flowers above.

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery.

Supplies:
PoppyStamps - Small Blooming Poinsettia dies
Catherine Pooler - The Man with the Bag stamp set

CAS Colours and Sketches #443

It's time for another sketch challenge over at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog.  Before we get to the sketch itself, I'd like to mention that CC&S is having a DT call.  If you're interested in joining our DT please visit the blog for all of the details.

Now on to our fabulous sketch!  Lots of possibilities with this one.

I've been on a Christmas card kick as of late, trying to put my tremendous stash to work for me.

For the "cloud" version of the sketch I used a vertical dangle of die cut holiday lights accompanied by a squared off stamped sentiment.  I cut the vertical sides off a bit so I could position a strip of gold cardstock on either side before popping it up on a white card base.  Super simple but very cute.

I invite you to visit our blog and hope to see your card in our gallery!

Supplies:
Spellbinders - Twinkle Lights die
WPlus9 - Sentiments #6 stamp set

CAS Colours and Sketches #442

It's Tuesday which means it's time for another challenge over at the
CAS Colours and Sketches blog.  This time we have a deep,
rich color trio for you to try.

I decided to go with the navy as my background and came up with this design...

In the end I went a bit overboard with the gold splatters but oh, well.

I began with a navy cardstock panel which I embossed with a folder.  I added some slim die cut frames over the embossed panel, generously added the gold splatters, added the die cut leaves followed by a sentiment.  (white heat embossed onto gold cardstock)  I couldn't resist adding the gold pearls to finish it off.  It looks much busier in this photo than I think it does in real life.

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery!

Simon Says Stamp - Eucalyptus Leaves
Altenew - Window Slats embossing folder
Altenew - Many Thanks sentiment stamp set

CAS Colours and Sketches #441

We have a new sketch up over at the CAS Colours and Sketches
challenge blog and we'd love it if you played along.

Here's my Halloween take on this very simple sketch.

The neighborhood stamp was designed for a wintery holiday scene but as you can see it's easily adaptable to any occasion.  I stamped it at an angle onto white cardstock using a crisp black pigment ink.  After it was fully dry I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and heat embossed it in white.  I chose a lavender piece of patterned paper for the bottom portion.  If you look closely you can still see the vertical stripes after ink blending it with Distress Oxides.  It looked a little plain so I snuck in a black heat embossed spider in the bottom corner to finish it off.  I will be sending this one off to my grandson soon as he is a big fan of purple.  (Me not so much.)

I invite you to visit the blog for more inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery!

Supplies:
Taylored Expressions - Winter Village background cling
PaperTrey Ink - Along Came a Spider stamp set (sentiment and spider)
Tonic Studios - patterned paper
Distress Oxides in Wilted Violet and Black Soot

CAS Colours and Sketches #440

Happy October everyone!  It's Tuesday which means we have a new challenge up for you over at the CAS Colours and Sketches blog.  The uber talented Vicki is our new hostess for the month and she has chosen this trio of fun colors for us to work with this week.

As luck would have it, I actually own two of these three colors in the Stampin' Up cardstock line.  (A rare occurrence here.)

I chose a bluebird/branch die and used the cardstocks to cut out different portions of the die.  It was very easy to assemble and glue these together.  I used an embossing folder to create the background texture and then added the die cut/embossed frame over top.  The sentiment was stamped in a crisp black pigment ink.

I invite you to visit our blog and hope you're inspired to use these colors on your next card.

Supplies:
Cottage Cutz - Bluebird die
MFT - Framed die
Fun Stampers Journey - Corrugated Cardboard embossing folder
Memory Box - Open Sentiments Birthday

CAS Colours and Sketches #439

We're winding down the month of September at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog with a new sketch from our hostess Jenny.  Let's dive right in.

Here's the sketch....

Feel free to rotate and/or flip our sketches
 to meet your design needs.

And here's my card...

I began with a panel of soft medium grey cardstock, a stencil and white pigment ink.  I had to get creative with the four pane window stencil in order to achieve the look in the sketch but it was doable.  I die cut the poinsettias from red and grey cardstock and stacked them for a dimensional look.  I die cut the sentiment and shadow layer from two tones of grey, adhered it across the bottom of the top blended rectangle and then added the stacked poinsettias in a triangular position. I stamped the sub sentiment in crisp black pigment ink and finished it off with some strategically placed crystals.

I invite you to visit our blog and hope you're inspired to play along with us this week!

Supplies:
MFT - Window Panes stencil
Simon Says Stamp - Merry die
Simon Says Stamp - Christmas Tiny Words
Poppystamps - Small Blooming Poinsettia dies
Trinity Stamps - crystal clear mix

CAS Colours and Sketches #438

It's Tuesday which means we have a new challenge up over at the CAS Colours and Sketches  blog.  This week Jenny has chosen a beautiful trio of colors for our cards.

I pulled out my Copic chart and selected three colors of alcohol markers that matched the chosen trio.

It didn't take much product to create my card.  I began with a geometric die which I ran through my die cutter using white cardstock.  I colored the geometric pieces with Copics using the pattern you see in my image. (It's important to keep all of the tiny pieces when doing an inlay like this.)  I stacked the frame portion three times to create dimension, adhered it to the card front and then popped in my colored triangles/pentagons.  I added a black die cut word sentiment with an accompanying white shadow layer and some black and white enamel dots to finish it off.

I invite you to visit our blog and hope you're inspired to play along!

Supplies:
Reverse Confetti - Geometric Panel cover die
Simon Says Stamp - Thanks and shadow die

CAS Colours and Sketches #437

The CAS Colours and Sketches team are back on the blog this week with a new challenge.  This week we'd like for you to incorporate this wonderful sketch by Jenny into a slimline card.

I'm still having fun with my graphic stamps so I incorporated them into something a bit different.

My card is a mini slimline which for me is a final size of 6.25" x 3.5".  I started off by stamping the rectangular blocks to create the background.  Over top I added a gold embossed line of squiggles.  I Copic colored my whale and added some gold embossing and white gel pen to him for a bit of detail.  I adhered my panel to a blue card base, adhered the whale to the left side and finished it off by adding in the stamped sentiment and crisscrosses.

I invite you to visit the blog and hope to see your card in our gallery!

CAS Colours and Sketches #436

A new month of weekly challenges await at the CAS Colours and Sketches blog.
Today starts a new color challenge with this lovely trio selected by our hostess Jenny.

Let's get right to it, shall we?

Hmmm....my pink is looking very magenta-ish in this photo but I assure you it is not.

As you can see, I made a very CAS card with minimal supplies.  I stamped the three shapes in the horizontal center of the panel in two of the challenge colors and added in the third color (as well as gold embossing) to the centers.  I heat embossed the sentiment in white on a narrow strip of black cardstock, adhering it with some dimension.  I edged the panel with a gold paint pen and then popped it up with craft foam.

I invite you to visit our blog and hope to see your card in our gallery!

CAS Colours and Sketches #435

Because August has five Tuesday we have a special treat for you over at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog.  It's what we call a Double Challenge.

In a double challenge you must use only the color trio
(plus neutrals) as well as incorporate the sketch into your design.

I didn't want to go with a traditional trio of shapes so I used a bit of artistic license with the sketch.

My trio consists of two palms trees and a cute little penguin.  It works, don't you think?

I began by stamping my trees in yellow.  I stamped, fussy cut and Copic colored in the cute little seaside penguin using the challenge colors along with blacks and greys.  The sentiment was stamped with a crisp black pigment ink.  To create a matching border I rimmed the white panel with the same Copic marker I used on the penguin.  I positioned my penguin in front of the trees, popping him up with some foam tape.  I also used foam tape to adhere the panel to a white card base and added in some clear yellow droplets as accents.

I invite you to visit our blog and hope to see your card in our gallery!

CAS Colours and Sketches #434

Bhavya has created a really fun sketch for this week's challenge over at the CAS Colours and Sketches blog.

As with all of our sketches, feel free to
rotate and/or flip to fit your design.

I found the perfect stamp in my Christmas stash, so holiday card it is

I began with the HO HO HO stamp.  Yes, that's all one stamp.  Convenient, isn't it?  I then die cut and assembled my Santa hat using red cardstock for the base, white cardstock for the rim/pom and a generous slathering of clear glitter glue for sparkle.  I cut the card base down so as to provide a nice pool border against my card base and did the little trick from last week where I rimmed the white panel in clear glitter glue.

I invite you to visit our blog and hope to see your card in our gallery!

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp - HoHoHo stamp set
Cottage Cutz - Santa Hat die
Nuvo - White Blizzard Drops

CAS Colours and Sketches #433

It's time for another color challenge up at the CAS Colours and Sketches blog where our hostess Bhavya has chosen a fun trio of colors.

For our color challenges, you must use all of the stated challenge colors. You may also use neutrals
such as white, ivory, black, brown, grey, or metallics; however, no other colors should be added to
your card. We use Stampin' Up color names for reference, but you are welcome to use any other
companies' products as long as you match the challenge colors as closely as possible.

Without further ado...

I began with the background stencil.  Before ink blending I taped off the middle section so I could create a horizontal stripe of yellow within my pool colored background.  I die cut the You from red cardstock, added the white shadow layer beneath and stamped the sub-sentiment in black.  I decide to cut down the panel to expose a white border, wider on the sides than the top.  I adhered the panel to a white card base, rimmed the panel with some clear glitter glue and added my customary trio of clear droplets.

I invite you to visit our blog and hope to see your card in our gallery!

Supplies:
MFT - Watercolor Wash stencil
Ellen Hutson - All About You die
Simon Says Stamp - You Matter stamp set
Ellen Hutson - clear droplets
Nuvo - White Blizzard drops
