CAS Colours and Sketches #448

Happy Fifth Tuesday of the Month!  At the CAS Colours and Sketches blog that means we have a Double Challenge for you this week.  We are asking you to combine our new color trio with a sketch for your crafting challenge this week.

No stamping on my card today.

I ran the three colors of cardstock through an embossing folder to create the texture.  I used the same three cardstocks to die cut the crayons and accompanying greeting.  Pretty simple with no embellishments needed.

I invite you to come play along!

Supplies:
Altenew - Deck Planks embossing folder
Concord & 9th - Color Me Happy die set

Seize the Birthday #228

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my United States friends.  I am hosting the great American feast here at my house with my extended family.  I hope you all get to spend time with your families as well.

We have a new prompt over at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog and hope you can find time to play along.  My dear friend Lindsey is our host and she has chosen Hobbies and Pastimes as our new theme.

I have chosen a pastime that is near and dear to both Lindsey and me.  Reading.
I created my card with a young recipient in mind however I think it would work for any book lover.

The card design is pretty straightforward to recreate.  I stamped and Copic colored my image mid-center of my white card panel.  I stamped the sentiment above and below the image.  I die cut two thin frames to border my image, coloring one orange and one blue.  The only thing left to do was to adhere it to an orange card base and add some colorful enamel dots as embellishments.

We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  If you're not a toppings person any birthday themed card qualifies.

Supplies:
MFT - Our Story stamp set
Clearly Besotted Bookworm stamp set
Altenew - Fine Frames die set

CAS Colours and Sketches #447

Ready for a new sketch?  Check out the CAS Colours and Sketches blog for this week's new challenge.

I used some embossing techniques and had enough to create two cards this week.
First up is the one displayed on the CC&S blog.

And a bonus card because I didn't want any of that
beautiful clear embossed cardstock to go to waste.

My cards began with a large background stamp, red cardstock and clear embossing powder.  I cut the embossed piece down to 4"x5.25" card panel size to create my first card.  I used an embossing folder to create texture onto a strip of matte gold cardstock which I adhered vertically as in the sketch.  I die cut the sentiment in white with a gold shadow layer and adhered a messy nest of gold metallic thread before adhering the sentiment to the card front.  Card two used the leftovers from the clear embossed piece and is pretty self explanatory in assembly.  I love when I can get a "two-fer" without much effort.

I invite you to visit the blog for more details and inspiration from my fellow teammates.  We'd love to see you card in our gallery!

Supplies:
Background Stamp - (Hero Arts, I think)
Altenew - Angled Mosaic embossing folder
Simon Says Stamp/CZ Design - Merry die

CAS Colours and Sketches #446

It's time for another color challenge at the CAS Colours and
Sketches blog and I think you'll really like this new trio.

I'm still on a Christmas card kick so here's my holiday card using these colors.

I began by ink blending a pink background using Distress Oxides.  Once dry I stamped and silver heat embossed the poinsettia background onto two edges of my panel masking over the section that I wanted to remain empty.  I die cut the greenery and shaded it with more Distress Oxides before adhering it to the panel.  I silver heat embossed the sentiment and added a trio of silver pearls to finish off my card.

I invite you to visit the blog for more inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery!

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp - Poinsettia Background
WPlus9 - Holiday Cheer stamp set
Poppystamps - Greenery Bundle die set

Perfectly CAS November Challenge

We have a new monthly challenge up over at the
Perfectly CAS card blog where our new theme is TROPICAL.

Remember to use only 1/3 of your
 card front in your design.

I am continuing with my holiday cardmaking and
thought this wonderful flamingo satisfied the tropical theme.

I die cut the flamingo from heavy white cardstock and used my Copic markers to color each of the elements.  I ink blended the background, cutting it down so as to not exceed the 1/3 requirement.  I adhered my assembled flamingo onto the panel and popped up the panel with craft foam before adhering it to the card base.  The final step was to adhere the sentiment across the lower portion of the skater.

This Floridian is very excited to see your cards in our gallery so I hope you find time to play along!

Supplies:
Cottage Cutz - Christmas Flamingo die set
Flora & Fauna - Flamingo Holiday sentiment set

Color Hues #29

This is my second post today so if you missed
my latest Snark, please scroll down following this post.
Thank you!

________________________________________________________________________________

I'm sneaking in a last minute entry into the Color Hues challenge
where the current colors are Orange and Brown.

I went with the obvious autumnal theme
and created this Thanksgiving thank you card.

I began by Copic coloring everyone's favorite bear, giving him a pumpkin to hold. The orange background was stenciled using Distress Oxides.  I die cut a circle out of a kraft panel, placed the stenciled portion behind the opening and then added a Distress Oxide blended circle frame over top.  I stamped the gobbles and adhered the bear (stacked four high) to the right edge.  After stamping the main sentiment I adhered the panel to a white card base, trimming the edges on just the vertical sides.  I added in a few brown pearls to finish it off.

Supplies:
Ellen Hutson - All Inside stamp set
Ellen Hutson - Bear Wear 4 stamp set
Ellen Hutson - Random Sayings Vol. 2 stamp set
PinkFresh Studio - Plaid stencil set
Studio Katia - Cafe au Lait pearls

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #198

It's time for Edna to reveal her new challenge
for this fortnight and if one goes by our new graphic,
that could be revealing in and of itself.

Our new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge is Naughty.

Like Edna, I went with a holiday theme however
the challenge is not limited to Christmas.

I also snuck in some Surprise Snark once again.

This was a super simple card to make.  I stamped, Copic colored and die cut out my Santa.  I stamped the sentiment on both an outer and inner white card panel.  I added the Santa to the front panel which was then adhered to a heavy weight black card base.  The tiny gold stars were the perfect finishing touch.

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration from our Guest Tristan and the gals at the Sisterhood.  We'd love to see your naughty cards in our gallery!

Supplies:
Picket Fence - Santa Mischief stamp set
HoneyBee Stamps - Stargazer gold stars

Seize the Birthday #227

We have a new topping up over at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog and guess what?  It was my choice this time around!  It wasn't a difficult decision on my part.  Ahem....BEVERAGES!

I could have went one of two ways: Coffee or Happy Hour.  Any guesses?

Yup!  It's Happy Hour Somewhere.

I began my die cutting my bar cart elements with various shades of metallic cardstocks.  I opted for a kraft background which I ran through my current favorite embossing folder. I adhered the cart and all of its elements onto the panel, framed it out with a black metallic border and added a gold heat embossed sentiment.  I think this has a classy retro look to it and would be perfect for both male and female recipients.

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration.  We'd love for you to play along.  Toppings are wonderful but any birthday card is welcome.  Hope to see you in our gallery!

MFT - Cocktail Hour die set
MFT - Anything But Basic Birthday Wishes stamp set

CAS Colours and Sketches #445

We have a new sketch up over at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog and it's one I think you'll really like.

I'm still having fun with holiday cards so I continued
with the theme but in a rather non-traditional way.

I began by running my white card panel through an embossing folder for some wintery texture.  I loved it so much I used the same texture on my horizontal tag.  I stamped, Copic colored and die cut my bird and tea cup.  I also stamped out a greeting with I tucked under the cup, added the twine bow and some tiny white gems to finish my card off.  This could easily be made into a generic occasion by switching out the sentiment.

Supplies:
PinkFresh Studios - December Days stamp set
Fun Stampers Journey - Cozy Knit embossing folder
Penny Black - Deckled Tag die

I invite you to visit our blog for details and more inspiration from our DT members.

Happy Little Stampers - November Anything Goes with Dies

The first week of each month brings a new group of challenges over at the Happy Little Stampers challenge blog. (Five, to be exact.)  As always, our die challenge is Anything Goes.  If you use a die in any shape or form on your card, it qualifies for entry into our gallery.

My card is really self explanatory.  I added a stamped and die cut coffee pot onto a circle of diagonally striped black and white patterned paper which I adhered to a die cut panel of white cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment at the bottom and adhered the panel onto a black cardstock base.  Couldn't be easier!

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration and hope you'll join us in the gallery.

Supplies:
MFT - Coffee Date stamp set
MFT - b/w paper pack
Mama Elephant - Peek a Frame die

Happy Little Stampers - November Christmas Challenge

The first week of each month brings a new group of challenges over at the Happy Little Stampers challenge blog. (Five, to be exact.)  The new prompt for our Christmas challenge is Make a Scene.

I've been going through my Virgin Holiday stamps, trying to give each of them some loving.  My card today features a really cute holiday flamingo from Stampendous which I paired with a row of stamped houses from an older Ellen Hutson holiday set.

When masking you always want to stamp your forefront image(s) first which in my case is the flamingo and gifts.  I also stamped the images off onto masking paper.  I fussy cut the masks, placed them over top of my stamped images, and then stamped the houses in the background.  I also created masks for the houses so that I could ink blend the background, blues for the sky and gray for the ground.  After removing the masks I colored in the images with Copic markers and stamped the sentiment in the upper right using a crisp black pigment ink.  I wish there really was a Santa Flamingo.

I invite you to visit our blog where you'll find the challenges listed in the rightmost column.  We'd love to see your Christmas scene but any Christmas card qualifies.  Come join the gallery!

Supplies:
Stampendous - Flamingo Santa stamp
Ellen Hutson - Light Parade stamp set
Spellbinders - To You and Yours stamp set (sentiment)

I'm also entering this into Darnell's NBUS challenge.
My flamingo has been christened.

CAS Colours and Sketches #444

It's Tuesday which means that we have a new host with a new set of challenges over at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog.  Joanne has selected this color trio to start out the month.

I went with the obvious theme of Christmas using the colors to create a trio of poinsettias.

This card design is as easy as it looks.  I pulled out three cardstocks that closely matched the challenge colors (plus white) to create my poinsettia layered die cuts, adding a tiny red jewel in the center of each completed flower.  I then stamped the horizontal line, added the sentiment below and adhered the flowers above.

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery.

Supplies:
PoppyStamps - Small Blooming Poinsettia dies
Catherine Pooler - The Man with the Bag stamp set
