Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #235

It's time for another installment of Sisterhood Saturday and the prompt this fortnight brings back bittersweet memories of my dear friend Lindsey. If you're a fan of our challenge group you know that the selection of prompts are wide in range and not always everyone's cup of tea.  For me, today's prompt is one such example.

Isn't this graphic FABULOUS?

You may have already guessed that Steampunk is not in my repetoire.  I joked to the team that I would be "on vacation" when this prompt came due last year.  Well dear Lindsey came to the rescue with a little postal package of goodies to help me out.  We ended up shelving this prompt last summer in lieu of a challenge honoring Lindsey but I tucked my card away knowing that my evil Sisters would bring it back from the archives.  It turned out to be a very smart move on my part.

Here is the inside of my card....

And if you haven't already guessed, my choice of sentiment mimicks my thoughts on Steampunk.  ROFL!

I began with a piece of really old pattern paper to which I stamped the big black splatter type image.  Lindsey sent me a nice selection of white die cut gears which apparently are Steampunk material.  LOL!  I heat embossed the gears with several coats of metallic embossing powders to give them a nice smooth finish.  I didn't have a suitable Steampunk sentiment so I created my own using individual alpha stamps.  Once finished I heat embossed the sentiment strips with clear embossing powder to coordinate with the finish on the gears.

This card is most definitely outside my wheelhouse but it's good to branch out a bit.  I think I'll display it alongside the collection of cards that Lindsey sent me over the years.  I truly miss you dear friend but your legacy lives on.

Supplies:
Taylored Expressions - You're In My Heart Stamp
Honeybee Stamps - Sentimental Alphabet stamp set
Basic Grey - really, really old 6x6 paper pack
Gear die cuts - gift from our dear Lindsey

If Steampunk "ain't your thang" I encourage you to follow my lead and give it a whirl.  That said, I'm definitely going to be on vacation should this prompt ever re-surface it's ugly head.  *wink*  Our thanks to Fran for Queening with us.

Come play along with our gallery and, as always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Seize the Birthday #262

Time sure flies by quickly!  It's time once again for another Seize the Birthday challenge and this fortnight's topping is an interesting one.  Any guesses?

I'm really looking forward to seeing how you all interpret the Topping. I opted to incorporate some really vibrant colors to make the card front "pop" however Pop
could be a balloon, a soda, an explosion card, etc.

My card utilizes both some new alcohol inked pieces as well as scraps from previous projects.  I thought pyschedelic mushrooms would be fun and perhaps it's exactly why the birthday was forgotten.  LOL!  I felt like the card needed some sort of grounding so I die cut the partial circle from the panel but left it in for some interest.  I arranged and adhered the 'shrooms to the center, stamped the sentiment and then adhered the whole thing to a teal card base.  I think it turned out rather fun.

Supplies:
The Greetery - Toadstool Garden die set
MFT - Tucked in Turf die
Riley & Co - RWD862 (sentiment stamp)
Ranger - alcohol inks

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  Remember, our toppings are always optional but do remember to make it a birthday card.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Color Hues #64

Welcome to another challenge brought to you by the Color Hues team.  We have an interesting color pairing for you to dabble with this fortnight.

We are looking for shades of Orange and Slate Gray.

I know you are all shaking your heads 'cause "there she goes again with another hand and bracelet card."  Sorry, but I just can't seem to get enough of the possibilities.  (But am I really sorry?....)

I utilized a piece of designer paper for the background however all of the other card elements were die cut from white cardstock, blended out with Distress Oxide inks.  It was just a matter of placement and adhesion after that.  And you know me, I had to add a bit of bling to her wrist.

Supplies:
MFT - Paper Goods die set
MFT - Creature Comforts die set
MFT - Coffee Order stamp set

I invite you to join us over at the Color Hues blog where you'll see lots of Orange and Gray inspiration from our DT as well as our special guests.  Do come play along!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #234

It's time once again for another round of Snark over at the Sisterhood.  Our prompt for today is Yo Mama!  It took my foggy brain hours of contemplation before deciding on my design/theme.  I most always go with something humorous for these challenges but today I took a different approach and I'm sure we can all relate in some way.

Exhausted Mama.

I did something a bit different with my design.  Rather than stamping on white I chose to stamp her out on a mustard yellow cardstock before coloring with Copics.  I thought it gave a somewhat artsy style to the design.  I stamped the sentiment, matted it in black and then adhered it to a rustic cream card base.  Super simple.

Supplies:
Unity Stamps - Become the Woman stamp set
Altenew - Best Mom stamp set
PaperTrey Ink - Rustic cardstock

We would love to see your interpretation of Yo Mama!  Also join in on giving our Reigning Queen Mia as well as my fellow teammies some love.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Seize the Birthday #261

As host of the new Seize the Birthday challenge I get the opportunity to choose the prompt.  I was in need of a young boy's birthday card so I designed this one in my head and chose a prompt that would fit.  Reverse Engineering for the Win!

Keep in mind however that any wheel will work
and our DT has come up with some very interesting designs
that don't involve construction equipment. *wink*

My design process is pretty straight forward.  I die cut the images from colored cardstock and arranged them in the approximate center of my panel, stamping the sentiment just below.  I matted the white panel with yellow before adhering it to a black card base.  Super simple and perfect for any birthday occasion, especially for construction crazy little boys.

Supplies:
Pretty Pink Posh - Everyday Greetings
Memory Box - Dump Truck die
Lawn Fawn - Simple Road die set

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  Remember, our toppings are always optional but do remember to make it a birthday card.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Happy Little Stampers - May Christmas Challenge

It's time once again for another holiday challenge from the Happy Little Stampers Christmas group.

I've decorated indoor palms in lieu of fir trees for several years now and of course, you all know my love for flamingos so I had a little Florida Fun with this one.

I had to do a little bit of masking to create my scene.  After that it was some quick Copic coloring, a matted edge and voila!  Instant Tropical Christmas Card using one stamp set.

Supplies:
Avery Elle - Flamingo Bells stamp set

I invite you to visit our blog for more holiday inspiration.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  Remember, the prompts are always optional but remember that only holiday cards qualify.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Color Hues #63

It's the first of May (already!) and the Color Hues team has a new color duo up on the blog and it's perfect for spring/summer.

Isn't this a fun pick from Hannelie?

I had some new goodies from Simply Graphic that dictated the theme of my card.  I die cut the sunbathing beauty from white cardstock and colored her in with Copics.  The raft was die cut from designer paper.  I used a background die to create the waves which I then paper pieced with a cyan shade closer to green than blue.  I stamped the sentiment with a crisp black pigment ink and added some white polka dots to her hat.  This card could work for several occasions but I do think I'll use it as a birthday card.

Supplies:
Simply Graphic - dies SGD442
Simply Graphic - designer paper Arcachon collection
MFT - Mini Messages and More stamp set
Ellen Hutson - Pattern Die Combo

I invite you to join us over at the Color Hues blog where you'll see lots of Hot Pink and Cyan inspiration from our DT.  I do hope to see your card in our gallery!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!
