Happy Little Stampers - September Christmas Challenge

It's time once again for a new monthly prompt over at the Happy Little Stampers Christmas blog.  Our theme for September is Snow Globe.

I took a simple approach to this month's theme by opting not to make my snow globe into a shaker card.  I heat embossed the sentiment onto some designer paper which I used inside the die cut shaker dome, adding in some white glitter paper to serve as snow.  Die cut poinsettia leaves were added to the globe after first adhering it to another panel of designer paper.  This is a bit fiddly for mass production but definitely not as fiddly as a traditional shaker card.

Supplies:
Poppystamps - Snowglobe die set
Paper Trey Ink - designer papers
Poppystamps - Small Poinsettia dies
Hero - Arts - sentiment stamp set

I invite you to visit our blog for more holiday inspiration.  Prompts are always optional but remember that only holiday cards qualify.  We would love to see your card in our gallery.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Going for Two!

Today I'm tackling two challenges with one card

AND

it involves two of my (very scary) 2020 crafty resolutions....

Florals

Watercoloring

My card

I stamped my image in black pigment ink onto watercolor paper and began painting.  I'm a beginner so it's fairly simple but as I've said before, baby steps.  Once the watercoloring was complete I decided to fussy cut out the image so I could overlay it onto this pretty b/w diagonal striped patterned paper.  The sentiment is a two part die.  I chose black as the shadow and white for the lettering.

I added a bit of sparkle to the flowers with an aqua brush as well as some shine to the berries with some Glossy Accents and called 'er done.  I'm hoping that practice builds confidence.

Supplies:
Lil Inkers - Love and Honey
Simon Says Stamp - Thanks die
MFT - b/w patterned paper
Gansai Tambi - watercolors
Tim Holtz - watercolor paper
Altenew - Obsidian Pigment Ink

Happy Little Stampers - February Challenge

Today's card was created with the current challenge over at the Happy Little Stampers in mind.  The theme for February is Dies.

I love cards created primarily from die cut images but don't make nearly enough of them.  For today's card I chose a fence die that "I had to have but haven't used" as my focal point.

I die cut two of the fence panels and then adhered them to the edge of a piece of blue cardstock along the scored lines provided by the die.  I added some grass along the bottom edge and some purple foliage along the top.  I didn't want the gate to be open so I wove a small piece of black cardstock through the fence to secure it, keeping the sentiment a secret until opened.

To create my sentiment I white heat embossed the greeting onto a smaller piece of the same blue cardstock and adhered it to the inside of the card.  All the recipient has to do is slide the black cardstock out and voila....secret message.

This card was a lot of fun to make.  I'm so happy to have the right challenge to push me to use those "gotta have" supplies that are gathering dust.  (Tell me I am not alone!)

Supplies:
Mama Elephant - Gatefold X Fence
MFT - Tucked in Turf
MFT - Get Well Wishes

Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge

One of my crafty goals for 2020 is to delve more into the world of watercoloring.  I love the look but I have yet to achieve a level that is acceptable to me.  Today I'm joining in on the watercoloring challenge over at the Happy Little Stampers challenge group.  I'm grateful that their first challenge of the year is simple.

In my watercoloring world simple means "I do not have to color in a stamped image" so I decided to take my goal slow and do something uncomplicated.  Yes, I'm very unimaginative and boring but hey...baby steps.  :-)

I used Distress Inks to slap on some stripes in rainbow order.  I matted the watercolor paper onto white card stock that was cut with a scalloped die from WPlus9.  For the actual die cut portion of the challenge I used a sentiment die from MFT Stamps and then sprinkled the whole thing with clay hearts from Trinity Stamps.

I feel like I cheated but hey....they said "Anything Goes".  LOL!  I'll slowly work my way up to florals, another one of my crafty goals for 2020.
