Seize the Birthday #256

The Seize the Birthday gang is back with another Topping to challenge your creative juices.  Any guesses as to JoAnn's prompt based on my card?

If you guessed a color challenge, you would be correct.

I went with a Red/White/Kraft color palette.

I chose to create a birthday card using a red cardinal on a white/kraft birdhouse. I created some texture on the white house with the use of an embossing folder.  Each assembled piece is three die cuts thick to give it some sturdiness.  I added a strip of kraft cardstock to the lower section of a white card base to give it some added weight to the stamped sentiment.  The tiny white strip was adhered for additional interest.   I just love this color combo!

Supplies:
MFT - Birdhouse Card kit
Memory Box - Signature Greetings stamp set
Fun Stampers Journey - Tiny Dots embossing folder

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  Remember, our toppings are always optional but do remember to make it a birthday card.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #228

It's time for another Sisterhood Saturday where the prompt this week is a bit hard core if taken literally....which of course, I did.  I must also confess that I was greatly inspired by the card created by fellow teammate Chris Dring.  Thanks for providing me with some mojo Chris!

I think Edna was also inspired by Chris. *wink*

I'm sure Alex Siberia did not have this card design in mind when she began her Kickstarter campaign.  My sincerest apologies.  LOL!

I began with panels of both white and black cardstocks, one stamp set and one cover plate die.  I die cut the background in both colors, stamped my phrases onto the white negative pieces and then puzzle fit them into the black die cut panel.  The focal expletives were heat embossed in white onto a coral speech bubble and then the entire panel was adhered to a heavy weight white card base.

Supplies:
Alex Siberia Designs - Modern Stripes cover plate die
Paper Issues - Snarky Stamp set
Altenew - Speech Bubble die set

Whether you take our prompt literally or suggestively, we look forward to seeing your cards in our gallery.  Come play along!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Color Hues #58

The Color Hues gang has a new color duo for you to try, courtesy of Tracey.  It's such a happy and fun combination so I'm looking forward to a full gallery.  Here's my DT contribution.

I wish Band aids actually came in these fun colors.

I created my layered bandages in lime and cyan, adhered them in horizontal rows onto a white textured label matted with cyan cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment in the lower right corner, adhered the label to a white panel which was then adhered with fun foam onto a white card base.

Supplies:
MFT Stamps - Band Aid die set
Pink Fresh Studio - Basic Label Frame die set
Reverse Confetti - Mixed Messages stamp set

I invite you to join us over at the Color Hues blog where you'll see lots of Lime and Cyan inspiration from our DT as well as our special guests.  I do hope to see your card in our gallery!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Seize the Birthday #255

Happy Thursday everyone!  It's time once again for a new challenge topping over at the Seize the Birthday blog.  Glenda has chosen a very unique prompt and I can 99.99% guarantee that you will never guess it in a million years.

I wouldn't have gotten it either and it requires a bit of explanation.

We want you to choose supplies and/or themes based upon your initials.  Some of us chose just one initial.  Others used three.  I used two.  My first and last initials are JP so voila....I present you with a JAR of PICKLES!!!!!!

I began with stamping and Copic coloring my pickles.  The image didn't include the pickle bumps which I thought were essential so I drew them in afterward.  To create my sentiment I had to do some tricky masking of stamp phrases.  The texture on the card panel was achieved with a 3D embossing folder.  I then adhered the image to the center and used a frame die for the mat overlay.  I'm not sure who will receive this one yet but I think it's rather cute.

Supplies:
The Sweet Stamp Shop - Big Dill stamp set
MFT - Stitched Rectangle die set
Simon Says Stamps - Crystal Distortion embossing folder
Avery Elle - Celebration stamp set

I'm so happy I finally dusted off this virgin Big Dill stamp set and am adding my card to Darnell's NBUS challenge.  Virgin no more.

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  Remember, our toppings are always optional but do remember to make it a birthday card.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #227

It's time for another Saturday at the Snarky Sisterhood where we love to create offbeat cards for that special someone.    Today's prompt is one that can be interpreted in many ways which always makes cruising the gallery so much fun. The prompt is pretty easy to guess from my card.

Yep.  Vintage.

I almost went with a record but in the end decided on the rotary phone.

The background of my card was cut from a piece of patterned paper.  The phone was stamped, colored with Copics and then finished with a coat of clear glaze which is definitely not showing up in my photo.  I did a double die cut from two hexagonal dies in order to get the gold frame over top.  The tiny stars were cut from the same gold cardstock.  Finally the sentiment was heat embossed in white onto black cardstock and die cut to give it the flagged ends.

Supplies:
Claudine Helmuth - really old stamp set (rotary phone)
MFT - Just My Type stamp set (sentiment)
Spellbinders - hexagonal dies
Honeybee Stamps - patterned paper
Tonic - Nuvo Glaze

We're looking forward to your interpretation of Vintage in our gallery. Snark is appreciated but not mandatory.  Come play along!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Color Hues #57

Welcome to February and a new color challenge at the Color Hues challenge blog!  I am the host this fortnight which means I got to choose today's color palette.  Since we've already had a couple of challenges with Valentine colors I decided to go with something spring related.

Coral and Sage

The background color is reading pinkish here
but I assure you it's a pretty coral color in person.

I dug into my supply of patterned paper pads and chose two for use in my card today.  I die cut the envelope with the sage paper and used a coral colored design for my background.   I stamped the mini card in black and used a coral cardstock as a mat.  The hand was blended out with Distress Oxide ink with a little dot of a coral Copic for her thumbnail.  After assembling my front panel I popped it up with some fun foam and added three colors of pearls to finish it off.

Supplies:
MFT - Crafty Hands die set
MFT - Paper Goods die set
MFT - Mini Messages stamp set
Honeybee Stamps - 6x6 patterned paper pad
Trinity Stamps - pearls

I invite you to join us over at the Color Hues blog where you'll see lots of coral and sage inspiration from our DT as well as our special guests.  I do hope to see your card in our gallery!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!
