Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #223

It's another Snarky Saturday with the Sisterhood!  Before I get to my card I'd like to wish my American friends a belated Happy Thanksgiving.  It's been a rough year for me but there is still so much to be grateful for.

Our new prompt for this coming fortnight is Queen.  I struggled a bit with this one so work with me here.  Mine is a very broad interpretation.

My thoughts are that if you can sit and look pretty in a martini glass, you must be royalty, right?

I began my card by stamping the background colors followed by the image and sentiment.  I then ran the panel through an embossing folder and added some gems for some sparkle and interest.  I love to color but today I just plain didn't feel like it and think this makes for a fun alternative.

Supplies:
MFT Stamps - Martini on Me stamp set
Simon Says Stamp - Lumen embossing folder
Ellen Hutson - Abstract Nature stamp set
Stamplorations - Some Snark stamp set (created by fellow Sista Chris)
Trinity Stamps - Mint Dream gems

I invite you to visit our blog for more royal inspiration and hope to see your creation in our gallery!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Seize the Birthday #252

Our last Seize the Birthday challenge of 2022 is a very fun one that I think you will all enjoy.  Our host Barbara is challenging us to CASE a card from any of the Seize the Birthday designers.  Beware, choosing just one designer and one design may result in many a blog/IG rabbit hole.  It's just so hard to choose!

Here's my card.  I wonder if my fellow DT member will recognize hers from my lift?

My card is based on one from fellow DT member Glenda.  In all honesty, I did not go back in to the STB archives but rather discovered her beauty from her IG account.  Red, Black, Birthday and CAS checked all of the boxes for me.  Here's her original card.

Stunning, isn't it?

To create my version I actually dug out my Kuretake Gansai Tambi water colors that haven't seen the light of day in ages.  I stamped my chosen floral arrangement onto a panel of watercolor cardstock using a crisp black pigment ink.  After loosely coloring the florals and leaves I restamped the floral image overtop once again.  (The beauty of the MISTI.)  I stamped the sentiment and decided I wanted a narrow border which was accomplished by adhering it to a gray card base.  Very simple yet I think it's Oh So Striking.

Supplies:
Altenew - Best Mom stamp set
Altenew - Birthday Greetings stamp set
Hobby Lobby - Watercolor Cardstock
Kuretake Gansai Watercolor palette

For those who made it this far (thank you for that!) there will be a little change to my DT duties come January.   I am making a lateral slide over to our sister challenge at the Color Hues Color Challenge blog to join their DT group.  I've played with both challenges for years and because that's not going to change, I am not saying "good-bye."  :-)

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  Remember, or toppings are always optional but remember to make it a birthday card.  Thanks Glenda for the inspiration!!!  Just who will you choose to CASE?

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Color Hues #53

Hello Friends!  I am popping in today to share a card I created with the current Color Hues challenge in mind.  With Scarlet and Green as their color duo it was a no brainer to make a Christmas card.

This was so simple but so fun!  And boy does it ever have a lot of dimension.

See what I mean?  No envie for this one folks!

I used a cover plate die to cut the beautiful holly background from green cardstock and then adhered it directly to a white card base.  I die cut the bow from a really, really, really old die set.  To create the beautiful arch to my bow I first spritzed it with some water and then worked it around the base of a Copic marker until it was pliable enough to adhere down.  The bow was adhered to the ribbon with a craft glue dot.  For my final touches I added in some gold foil pearls.  You may notice that I left off a sentiment.  I thought it stood well on it's own and will stamp something on the inside....if it ever leaves my hands.  *wink*

Supplies:
Poppystamp - holly die and stencil set
Dear Lizzy - ribbon and bow die set
Fun Stampers Journey - gold pearls

As I sit here still admiring it I'm thinking that I may just prop it up on my bar and use it as decor. Ha!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Perfectly CAS November Challenge

The new prompt for November's Perfectly CAS challenge is Snowflake.  I had so much fun creating my card that I actually have a two-fer to share with you today.

Card one uses a beautiful blue textured cardstock showcased on a white background.  The blue cardstock peeks out from underneath the dots.

Card two is exactly opposite using the the beautiful blue textured cardstock as the background.

I used a large arch die to create the see through element of the background panels.  The J and the Y were die cut from an alpha set however I substituted a snowflake for the O.  This is a very simple but elegant design that could easily be mass produced.

Supplies:
MFT - Stitched Alpha dies
MFT - Let it Snow snowflake die
PinkFresh Studio - Braided Arch die
Tonic Studios - Ice Grey Glacier cardstock

Come check out our blog for more inspiration!  We'd love to see your cards in our gallery.  Please remember to use only 1/3 of the area in your design.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #222

Welcome to another edition of Sisterhood Saturday!  You may be wondering why I'm posting a Halloween card "after the fact."  Well, I thought a punny play on a curse word would fit the theme of Juvenile.

Too Cute!

I began with the die cut ghost which includes the cut out BOO! in the center.  The BOO! and face are inlaid in black.  The background was embossed with a folder and then matted with a tiny border of orange.  I thought hard about adding some embellishments but in the end, liked it just the way it is.

Miss Ink Designs - Boo Sheet stamp set
Simon Says Stamp - Ghost die
Simon Says Stamp - Ghost embossing folder

I invite you to visit our blog for more juvenile inspiration and hope to see your creation in our gallery!

Seize the Birthday #251

We have an interesting topping for you this fortnight over at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog.  We want to see "Many of Something."

Not only did I use many leaves on my card
but I also included many more in my photo backdrop.  :-)

I ink blended several different colors of dye inks (along with white pigment ink) to create my background.  I used the same inks to create the colors on my die cut leaves.  I edged the panel with a gold pigment pen, heat embossed the sentiment in white onto a gold tag and added several gold foil pearls as the final embellishments.

Supplies:
Lawn Fawn - Tropical Leaves stencil
Waffle Flower - Greenery dies
Pink Fresh Studio - Pause for Applause stamp

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  Remember, or toppings are always optional but remember to make it a birthday card.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Happy Little Stampers -- November Anything Goes with Dies Challenge

It's time for the last Happy Little Stampers challenge for the month of November.  If you use a die on your card we'd love to see it in our Anything Goes with Dies online gallery.

I was recently gifted an awesome set of cocktail dies from a friend and knew immediately that I had a sentiment from another manufacturer that would be perfect for this frosty mug of beer.

I began with the green Distress Oxide background which I splattered with both water and gold paint droplets.  I used a yellow Distress Oxide to color the beer as well as the grounding area for my stamped sentiment.  I matted the combined pieces in black and adhered it to an embossed panel of white cardstock which was then directly adhered to a white card base.  I'm hoping these colors and style will work as a masculine birthday card.  What do you think?

I invite you to join us over at the blog and hope to see your card in our gallery!

Supplies:
Sizzix - Thinlit Dies (adult beverages)
MFT - Raise a Glass stamp set
Simon Says Stamp - Lumen embossing folder

Color Hues #52

Hello Weekend!!  Today I'm sharing a card I created for the current Color Hues challenge blog.  Their color duo this fortnight is Turquoise and Mustard.

I chose to create an all die cut card using some pieces from an older Spellbinders Die of the Month kit.  The texture in the white background panel was created with an embossing folder.  I opted not to shade any of the die cuts so this was a pretty simple card to create.  The sentiment was die cut from gold (which I am told is an acceptable neutral) and stacked five high with the mustard cardstock to give it some "ooomph."  The little dots you see scattered are the remnants of the flower and berry centers.  My intention was to mat the white panel with the turquoise however after flopping it down onto my card panel I decided I liked the wonky look.  I added some pearl centers to the flowers and called it good.

Supplies:
Spellbinders - Large Die of the Month Nov 2019
Memory Box - embossing folder #1021
Trinity Stamps - pearls

It's always fun to play along!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Happy Little Stampers -- November Christmas Challenge

How is it November already?  No better time to get hopping on your holiday cards.  If you're looking for a kickstart, come check us out at the Happy Little Stampers Christmas blog challenge where we have a new prompt.

Santa Claus!

Today's card design was heavily inspired by Yana Smakula.  She's the queen of dark backgrounds with grid style elements.

I stamped, colored and die cut my elements and after arranging them to my liking, heat embossed the sentiment in white onto the black panel to create the fourth element of the grid.  I added a drop of white Nuvo drops and a sprinkling of glitter to the pom poms, a few lines of sparkly gel pen for highlights and finally some gold pearls for embellishments.

Supplies:
Ellen Hutson - Holiday Characters stamp set
Ellen Hutson - Retro Holiday Greeting stamp set

I invite you to visit our blog for more holiday inspiration.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  Remember, the prompts are always optional but remember that only holiday cards qualify.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #68 - ala the Sisterhood

Fellow Sister Jo has invited the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers as her Guest Designers to jump start the holiday card making season over at her Christmas Kickstart Challenge blog. We responded with a resounding YES!

Our prompt today is Trees, Trees, Trees.

I am also linking this up to the new challenge over at the Global Design Project.  I've been wanting to join in on their challenges for awhile now and the timing for my first entry couldn't have been more perfect.

To recreate my card:

The trees were die cut from white cardstock.  Three were blended out with a trio of Distress Oxide inks while two were kept original.  The black panel was embossed with a 3D folder and the sentiment was heat embossed in white onto a strip of black cardstock.  A very simple card with a striking effect.  At least I think so.  *wink*

Supplies:
MFT - Evergreen die
Simon Says Stamp - Merry Christmas Tree stamp set
Simon Says Stamp - Swirling Snow embossing folder

I invite you to visit Christmas Kickstarter blog and come spend some holiday card making time with Jo and the rest of the Sisters on our Guest DT gig!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!
