Just Us Girls Challenge #703

My card today was created for the Just Us Girls challenge where they have a unique and fun prompt.

I decided to make mine a Christmas card.

This was so easy to create.  I began with a sheet of heavyweight gray cardstock.  One half was used as the card base.  Another quarter was embossed with a cover plate and cut down a quarter inch to serve as a panel which I popped up with fun foam.  I made my own circle stencil and very lightly blended with white pigment ink.  The remaining pieces are all die cuts.  I am in love with this card and if I were mass producing holiday cards this year (which I am not) this would be the design.  Who knows....maybe next year.  LOL!

Supplies:
Impression Obsession - Tis the Season die
Impression Obsession - Christmas Icons dies
Papertrey Ink - Linen cover plate

Inkspirational Challenge #301

Today's card was created for the current Inkspirational Challenge where the Word is COLD.  I thought it was the perfect opportunity to play with some "new to me" stamps and dies from Ellen Hutson.  (Man, I'm gonna miss that store.)

I began with the stamping and die cutting of the focal sentiment, adding in some glitter along with top of the words to mimic snow.  I die cut the white cardstock panel, overlaying it above teal cardstock.  (Some of it looks black in the photo but it's teal.)  This was layered overtop of a panel of patterned paper before adhering it to a white card base.  The black sentiment strip was heat embossed in white and the snowflakes were die cut from white glitter cardstock.  I added in some grey pearls as accents.

Supplies:
Ellen Hutson - North Pole Greetings
Ellen Hutson - Nordic Cross Cover plate
Simon Says Stamp - Snowflake dies
Darice - Snowflake die

Color Throwdown Challenge #766

I recently returned from an extended visit with my son and his family in North Carolina.  My autumn loving heart appreciates the change of seasons that they get to experience and it is truly the only thing I miss after living in Florida for over 40 years.

Several challenges have caught my eye but this one from the Color Throwdown team was first up on the list.  I am in love with their inspiration photo and color trio.  Here is my card.....

Inspired by their wonderful mood board...

I began by pulling cardstocks in their challenge colors along with kraft as my neutral.  I die cut and assembled the tiny two toned birds and adhered them onto a kraft wreath adorned with acorns and leaves.  I decided it needed a bit more ooomph so I added an ink blended floral bouquet at the bottom of the wreath.  (A portion of the blend is coming through as more yellow than orange on the cream colored cardstock but I assure you, it is indeed orange.)  The assembled wreath was adhered to an embossed white panel with the sentiment was stamped onto a tiny banner.  I added a tiny orange border and adhered the finished panel to a light blue card base.  Clear droplets are my only embellishment.

I used the leftover die cuts to create a couple of gift tags.  I am going to push myself to do this more often.

Supplies:
Poppystamps - Flock of Birds dies
Spellbinders - Scattered Fall embossing folder
Pink & Main - Forever in My Heart stamp set
Cottage Cutz - Build a Grapevine Wreath die

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!  Your time is greatly appreciated.

Seize the Birthday #272

Wow!  I cannot believe how fast this month has flown!  It's time for our last Seize the Birthday challenge for October. This fortnight we're looking to the sky for inspiration.

I can't seem to get enough of autumn based cards and as you can see, today's card is no exception.  My background was created in two parts...a blended sky with clouds and a heat embossed paver sidewalk.  The wagon and all of it's components were die cut from colored cardstocks with some ink blending along with edges.  The stamped sentiment is in two parts...one directly stamped in the clouds and one heat embossed on the wagon.  I'm really happy with the way this one turned out.

Supplies:
Honeybee Stamps - Little Red Wagon die set
Honeybee Stamps - Itty Bitty Pumpkins die set
Honeybee Stamps - Itty Bitty Leaves die set
Honeybee Stamps - Hey Pumpkin stamp set
Simon Says Stamp - On Solid Ground stamp set
Simon Says Stamp - Layering Rainbow stencil set

I invite you to visit our blog for more autumnal birthday inspiration from not only our Design Team members but also our Surprise Party Guest, Stef.

Inkspirational Challenge #300

You know that carefree feeling of being "caught up?"  No?  Me either.  Ha!  But I have had some extra free time recently to continue playing along with other challenges.  Today I'm back with a card for the Inkspirational Challenge where they want to see cards with matching envelopes.

I have a little bin of new goodies that I keep to the side of my desk.  This stencil and die set have sat there for ages untouched however they are virgins no more!  I stenciled a panel of white cardstock with Weathered Wood and Stormy Sky Distress Oxide inks (I think I have found a new fav combo) and added some stenciling to the bottom corner of a colored envelope while I had it out.  I then used the same colors, along with Spun Sugar, to blend out some white orchid die cuts that I arranged on white cardstock cut from a diamond die.  The die also cuts a narrow frame which I added in silver metallic.  The sentiment was heat embossed in silver as well.  I had a few smaller florals left over so I added in a tag to go with the card/envie combo.  I'm a bit extra like that.  *wink*  I did strongly consider adding my usual clear droplets but I thought this was busy enough.

I'm also sharing this over at Darnell's NBUS blog and these products will be filed in with the rest of my stash.

Supplies:
Waffle Flower - Layered Orchid stencil and dies
Sizzix - Geometric Winter die set
The Ton - Basic Sentiments stamp set
Sugar Pea Design - With Love tag die set

Thanks so much for visiting me here in my little corner of the blogosphere!  Much appreciated.

Color Hues #74

The Color Hues team is back with another color duo for you!  Today we are looking for hues of Yellow and Kraft.

I'm a firm believer in having a stash of sympathy cards as it's so much easier to create them when you aren't in need.  I thought our soothing color combo was just right for this type of card.

I began by die cutting my elements.  The branch and bird are actually from two different manufacturer's sets but I think they play along nicely together.  I added in a bit of twine as both a design element as well as a nesting element.  I stamped the sentiment and added several gold pearls to create a diagonal flow.  This bird has already "flown the nest" but thankfully because I gifted it to a friend, not because anyone was yet in need.

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp - Layered Bird die set
Cottage Cutz - Bluebirds die set (branch)
Ellen Hutson - Totally Random Sayings stamp set
Papertrey Ink - Rustic Cream cardstock

I invite you to visit our blog where you'll see so many wonderful designs in Yellow and Kraft.  Thank you so much for visiting my little corner of the blogosphere.  Your time means a lot to me.

Seize the Birthday #271

It is time for a fresh prompt and another round of birthday cards over at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog.  Our prompt is actually a color challenge where we would love to see you work with Hot Pink and Lime Green.

I used a really cute snowglobe/gumball machine die set from Cottage Cutz for my card today.  It was basically just a matter of die cutting the elements in our chosen colors, stamping the tag and assembling. I used vellum for the glass and a dark gray for the card base.  (I'm really wishing I'd gone with black in hindsight.) I really find these types of cards therapeutic to create.

Supplies:
Cottage Cutz - Snowglobe die
Altenew - Masonry Wall embossing folder
Simon Says Stamp - Tiny Words stamp set

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration from the Design Team and our Surprise Party Guest, Stef.

And as always, thanks so much for visiting me on my blog.

Just Us Girls #700

Today's card was made with my grandson in mind.  He has become obsessed with fishing.  So much so that I've started referring to him as Opie which of course meant I had to show him the beginning of The Andy Griffith Show in order for him to understand my reference.  :-)  As an aside, I've also had to show him clips from Different Strokes (Whatchutalkinbout Willis?) and we've watched The Sandlot for "You're Killing Me Smalls."  Yes, I reference shows and movies A LOT.  ha!

My friends over at the Just Us Girls challenge blog have a new color challenge in celebration of their 700th challenge.  I opted to create my fishing card using their colors.

I had fun mixing and matching the colors when assembling the lures.  I opted for a trio adhered to a textured background and my favorite fishing net die cut.  I stamped the sentiment and used a plank die to create the banner.  I think this is so fun and I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of my two "new to me" sets.

Supplies:
Honeybee Stamps - Lovely Layer Lures dies
Pink and Main - Gone Fishing stamp set
Altenew - Masonry Wall 3D embossing folder
The Greetery - Shiplap Builder die set
Amy Design - Maritime Fishing Net die

Thanks so much for visiting!!!  I appreciate your time and comments.

Happy Little Stampers - October Christmas Challenge

It's time for another monthly prompt over at the Happy Little Stampers Challenge blog.  This month we're focusing on Stencils however any Christmas card will do the trick.

I used a holiday stencil to first ink blend the background, followed up with a layer of glitter paste.  The Joy is a two part die cut and the sentiment is from a preprinted pack.  With all of the sparkle I didn't think much else was needed.

Supplies:
Hero Arts - Leaf and Berry Stencil
Simon Says Stamp - Joy die and shadow
Tonic Studios - Moonstone glitter paste

I invite you to visit our blog for more holiday inspiration. As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Christmas Kickstart - Calling All Cat Lovers

My card today is in honor of a crafty lady that I did not have the pleasure of knowing.  Janis Woolbright is being honored on my Snarky Sister Jo's Christmas Kickstart challenge blog this month.  Janis ran the annual Cat Lovers blog hop but sadly passed away in January.

I had so much fun creating with Anita Jeram's stamps the other day that I pulled out another set for today's card.  I began by stamping, coloring and fussy cutting the kitty from one of her sets.  I grounded her on a panel with an embossed strip of red cardstock, adding in some die cut greenery to make it a bit more festive.  I stamped the simple greeting and adhered several tiny gold stars around her head for a bit of bling.  I think this is a wonderful holiday card for any feline lover.

Supplies:
Colorado Craft Company - Thank You Kindly stamp set
Fun Stampers Journey - Pretty Plaid embossing folder
Carta Bella - Joyful Pine die cuts

Whether you knew Janis or not, I'm sure your holiday cards will be much appreciated over on Jo's challenge blog.  Thank you for visiting today.  Your time is always appreciated.

Just Us Girls #699

Today's card was made for the current Just Us Girls Challenge where the prompt is to CASE a Design Team Member.  There are some really great cards to choose from and in the end I decided upon one by DT member Lisa Kind.  Here's my card.

Lisa used one of Anita Jeram's cute stamps from Colorado Craft Company to create her card so I opted for something similar.  I love these illustrations and don't use them nearly enough.

I stamped, colored and cut out my little party mouse and adhered him to a blended panel which was then adhered to a larger embossed panel.  He'll make a cute celebratory card for just about any occasion.

Supplies:
Colorado Craft Company - Birthday Wishes stamp set
Colorado Craft Company - Party Time stamp set
Altenew - Deck Planks 3D embossing folder

Thanks so much for visiting!!!  I appreciate your time and comments.

Color Hues #73

How can it possibly be October already?  Well it is, whether our Florida weather knows it or not ... and the first of the month means a new color challenge over at the Color Hues blog.  I've made several autumn cards but today I'm taking it back to summer.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Pink and Main store in Ellenton, FL where I picked up a couple of wreath decor die sets.  My card today uses the summer wreath elements.

I die cut the elements from rustic cream cardstock for something a bit different.  I feel like it has a bit of beachiness to it.  The light blue and coral colors were achieved by ink blending with Distress Oxides.  To get a "hue" I purposely went heavy handed with some elements and used a much lighter touch with others.  The wreath itself is from a separate die set.  My Thanks die lost it's home ages ago so I don't know the manufacturer.  If you happen to recognize it please let me know in the comments.  I did double stack it with an offset using the rustic cardstock which is also used as my card base.  The little flowers are sequin bits from my stash.

Supplies:
Pink and Main - Summer Wreath Decor die set
Cottage Cutz - Build a Grapevine Wreath
Distress Oxides
Thanks die -  unknown

I encourage you to visit our blog for a look-see at the marvelous cards created by our Design Team.  Thanks so much for visiting!
