Seize the Birthday #248

Hello Crafty Friends. As I'm typing this we are under a tropical storm warning here on the east coast of Florida.  I do not expect much beyond a lot of rain here but I do have friends and family on the west coast and am crossing my fingers for everyone.

I plan to do some crafting on this wonderfully rainy day (no winds yet) but before I head in to JulieWorld (yes, my craftroom has a name) I thought I'd share my DT card for today's new topping over at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog.  It's broad scoped in nature so we're hoping for a full gallery.

Any guesses?

Clean and Simple is the Name of the Game this fortnight.

Toppings are always optional however it must be a birthday card.

I can't get enough of these cute, cute, cute MFT dies!  To keep this card CAS I opted for an off the edge design using an embossed partial circle die cut to ground my celebratory beverage.  All of the images were cut from white cardstock and then blended with Distress Oxide inks.  After adhering the elements I stamped a greeting in the lower right corner, matted the panel in gray and then adhered the finished panel to a light blue card base.  I'm in love.

Supplies:
MFT - Barware Basics die set
MFT - Stitched Dome die set
MFT - In Good Hands die set
Ellen Hutson - You're a Treasure stamp set
Simon Says Stamp - Lumen embossing folder
Pretty Pink Posh - charcoal pearls

I invite you to visit our blog for more CAS birthday inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Tic Tac Toe Challenge #179

I'm popping in real quick to share the card I created yesterday for the current Tic Tac Toe blog challenge.  See if you can guess the three elements I chose for my card.

Did you guess Fall, Wreath and Stitching?

(Nothing like spending a frustrating 30 minutes hand stitching
on a card panel only to later cover most of it up.  *sigh*)

I began by die cutting all of the elements from white cardstock, coloring them with Distress Oxide inks and then giving them all a good splatter with gold ink.  I masked off the top of a white panel in order to add some blended color to the bottom.  I used a pierced border die (unknown manufacturer) to add the horizontal holes which I then stitched with gold metallic thread.  The sentiment was stamped with crisp black pigment ink.  It was then just a matter of arranging the colored elements onto the card panel. After adhering the finished panel to a card base I added in a few rose gold jewels.

Supplies:
Cottage Cutz - Build a Grapevine Wreath die set
Spellbinders - Die of the Month Nov 2019 (pumpkin)
Honeybee Stamps - rose gold jewels
Ellen Hutson - You're a Treasure stamp set

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #218

It's time once again for a Snarky Saturday with the Sisterhood.  Our latest prompt is very versatile.  Can you guess from my card?

No, it's not Tighty Whities.  *wink*

We're asking you to incorporate kraft into your design.  I chose to use an embossed kraft cardstock background panel.  I stamped, fussy cut and shaded the undies and adhered them directly to the panel.  The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed in two parts to achieve the black and white look.  I added some narrow strips of scrap cardstocks horizontally across the bottom to finish off the retro look.

Supplies:
Unity Stamps - Change stamp set
Stampin Up - Painted Texture embossing folder

I invite you to visit our blog for more snarky birthday inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Seize the Birthday #247

You've all heard of Taco Tuesdays but today I'm bringing you Taco Thursday in  celebration of our latest Seize the Birthday challenge topping.

I'd like to think that Lindsey is still with us as she chose this prompt a few months back.  This taco is for you my friend.

I began with a Distress Oxide blended background.  I stamped, fussy cut and colored (Copics) the cute little image which was adhered directly onto the splattered background.  The sentiments were stamped with a crisp black pigment ink before adhering the panel to a heavy weight white card base.

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp - Taco Party stamp set

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration from our Guest Designer Asa as well as my fellow teammates.  Be warned....you might leave hungry.  *wink*

If toppings aren't your thing, any birthday themed card qualifies.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

Perfectly CAS September Challenge

It's time for another round of Perfectly CAS challenges where we ask that you use only 1/3 of the card front in your design.  Our challenge prompt this time is Halloween.

I knew I wanted my little ghosty to be in the bottom left of my card panel.  Being a white ghost on a white background I needed a little something something to set him off.  I used a circle background stencil as a guide for Distress Oxide blending.  I then stamped and die cut the ghost and balloons.  I used a tiny bit of gray shading on the ghost and colored his balloons in with a purple Copic marker before adhering to the circle background.  The sentiment was stamped onto black cardstock and embossed in white.  I adhered the panel to a white card base using fun foam.  I am very happy with the outcome. So cute!

Supplies:
Miss Ink Designs - Boo Sheet stamp set
Taylored Expressions - Masking Circle stencil set
Distress Oxides

Happy Little Stampers - Anything Goes With Dies September Challenge

It's time for a new round of the Happy Little Stampers die challenge.  Use a die in any form or fashion on your card and it qualifies for our gallery.  Easy Peasy.

Because my design involved the inlaid die cut technique with many little bits I went for a two-fer.

This sort of inlaid technique is definitely time consuming but if you follow my work you know I find the process rather therapeutic.

I used a cover plate die to create two white backgrounds along with lots of colored bits for paper piecing.  After completing the backgrounds it was just a matter of die cutting and adhering the sentiments.  I added a sub-sentiment and clear droplets to the first card but left the second card a bit simpler.  Fun stuff!

Supplies:
Sunny Studios - Retro Petal Cover die
Simon Says Stamp/CZ Designs - Send Wine die set
Simon Says Stamp/CZ Designs - Thankful 2 die set
Simon Says Stamp - clear droplets

We invite you to visit our blog for more snarkiness and hope you'll link your project to our gallery!

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

JUGS #648

Today's card was created for the current Just Us Girls challenge blog.  Can you guess the prompt from my card?

Basket! Hey, I have one of those.  LOL!

Because of the size of this die set I decided to create a larger card which is approximately 5x7 in size.  The basket was die cut from woodgrain kraft cardstock.  The remaining elements were all die cut from colored cardstocks and shaded with dye inks.  The background panel is a rustic white while the card base is a rustic cream.  The sentiment continues on the inside...."and a hug around the neck."  I finished off the basket trim with gold foil pearls.

Supplies:
Honeybee Stamps - Bushel and a Peck stamp and die set
Studio Katia - gold foil pearls
PaperTrey Ink - rustic cardstocks

Tic Tac Toe Challenge #177

Happy Labor Day to all of those in the US.  Today I'm joining in on the Tic Tac Toe challenge.  I chose the top row horizontally for my design.  Here's my card....

I used a mixture of different manufacturer's dies and colored cardstocks to create my fall themed thank you card.  I filled my red wagon with pumpkins and autumnal floral die cuts.  The wagon rests on a pattern of burlap and the entire panel is adhered to woodgrain kraft cardstock.  I used some dye inks to create a bit of shading on each of the elements.  These types of cards are indeed time consuming however I find them to be very therapeutic.

Supplies:
Hero Arts - Wagon and Accessories die sets
MFT - Freshly Picked die set
Altenew - Burlap Texture die
Simon Says Stamp / CZ Design - Simply Thank You stamp set

Happy Little Stampers - September Christmas Challenge

Today's card share was made for this month's Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge where the new prompt is Metallic.

My card is quite simple.  I began by stamping the image and sentiment in crisp black pigment ink followed by heat setting it with a clear embossing powder.  I colored the beverage with three paint pens...one red, one green and one gold metallic.  Because it sat a bit higher up on the panel than I'd intended I chose to add in three horizontal score lines along the bottom before matting it with green glitter cardstock.  The completed panel was adhered to a black card base.

Supplies:
Stampin' Up - Making Spirits Bright stamp set
Jane Davenport by Spellbinders - paint pens

I invite you to visit our blog for more holiday inspiration.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  Remember, the prompts are always optional.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #217

It's Sisterhood Saturday once again and this fortnight we are looking for snarky birthday cards.  This would have been the perfect opportunity to goad someone about their age however I took a more subtle approach to my snark.

(Like any of us needs a birthday excuse to day drink.  C'mon.  LOL!)

I actually won this fabulous set of supplies from a recent Instagram giveaway.  It was a real boost for me after having such a crappy time lately.  This card was very fun to make and I am appreciative of our generous crafting industry.

I began with die cutting the elements in white cardstock.  Rather than do my traditional method of Copic coloring each piece I decided to try ink blending.  Wow.  So easy!  I used Distress Oxides to blend out each element, adding in some gold heat embossing and glitter glue for the bracelets.  The background was also created by ink blending the Oxides onto a panel of white cardstock.  I added some water droplets and gold shimmer splatters for some interest.  After it was completely dry I stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink and heat embossed it with clear powder.  Then it was just a matter of arranging the scene to my liking.

Supplies:
MFT Stamps - Raise a Glass sentiment stamps
MFT Stamps - In Good Hands die set
Distress Oxides

I invite you to visit our blog for more snarky birthday inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

I am nothing if not an equal opportunity craft supply collector.  Today I'm playing with the Simon Says Wednesday challenge group.  It's been a long time since I've joined in but I'm taking advantage of a nasty (non-Covid) cold to play in my craft room.

Anything Goes featuring CZ Design Product

I began with the embossed background.  I then die cut the dove and branch from silver and white cardstocks.  The sentiment was heat embossed in silver onto the same white cardstock.  I arranged them to my liking and added in a diagonal line of silver pearls to extend the flow.

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamap - Turtle Dove die set
Simon Says Stamp - Leaf Bundle embossing folder
Simon Says Stamp / CZ Design - Clean Line Gratitude stamp and die set
Studio Katia - silver foil pearls

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!

A Special Seize the Birthday #246

We have a special Seize the Birthday challenge for you all as today we are collaborating with our sister challenge over at the Color Hues blog.  Color Hues is turning two so we're planning a big party by combining our two challenges.

For our (optional) topping we are using their new color duo of Navy and Lime Green.

If you choose to use our topping be sure to link it up over at Color Hues as well.  Each challenge will be selecting their own set of winners so you double your chances when you link to both.  (Just don't forget to make it a birthday card!)

___________

I began my card by first choosing a few shades of navy and lime green cardstock scraps from my stash.  (It's difficult to tell by the photo but I used two blues and two greens to create my rainbow.)  After die cutting my navy and lime elements I then die cut the rainbow into a panel of white cardstock which was previously scored with a cover plate die.  I then proceeded to do a die cut inlay technique, piecing the rainbows in like a puzzle.  I needed a spot for my sentiment so I decided to create a curved bottom to my panel using navy cardstock with a green border.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed in white.  The inside of my card has a Happy Birthday sentiment stamped in navy ink.

Supplies:
Erin Lee Creative - rainbow die
Avery Elle - Inside Birthday Greetings stamp set
Altenew - Dotty Swirls cover plate
HoneyBee Stamps - white gem stickers

We invite you to visit both blogs for tons of colorful inspiration and hope you'll link your project to both galleries!  While there show some love for our new Guest Designer Asa Johansson.

As always, thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!
