Seize the Birthday #294

Hello my friends.  Today's card was created using our newest Seize the Birthday Topping, chosen by Vicki.  I knew I hade a feather stamp and die set from waaaaaaaaay back but couldn't for the life of me remember the manufacturer which is how I organize my supplies.  When I say it took me HOURS to locate it, I'm not joking.  But in the end I was triumphant!  Here's my card.

Does anyone else remember this feather set from Mama Elephant?  I think it was my first purchase from them in what seems like eons ago.

I began with the feather, stamping it in a really deep blue.  I chose a coordinating blue cardstock for my panel, blending the edges in ink before embossing.  I die cut the focal tag in white, stamped the sentiment, adhered the feather and then added some stamped ink blotches.  Silver stones were my final touch.

Supplies:
Mama Elephant - Fair Feathers stamp set
Pretty Pink Posh - Decorative Tags 1 die set
Erin Lee Creative - Art Deco Arches embossing folder
Trinity Stamps - silver stones

So I just did some Googling.  It looks like an eon is actually only eleven years.  Who knew?

I invite you to join us at our blog and in the gallery.  Our Topping is optional but it must be a birthday card to qualify.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Color Hues #97

Hello my Crafty Friends!  It's my turn once again to host our Color Hues challenge and I've chosen the duo of Olive and Mustard for my hues.  I thought this combination would work well for autumnal themed cards but I'm strangely craving a sandwich now.  Anyone else hungry?

I opted for a floral motif so I grabbed some dies and cardstock scraps in the appropriate colors and got to work.  I set my focal design off to the left of center, arranging the pieces onto a floral embossed panel of white cardstock. The sentiment was stamped onto a ticket shaped tag and positioned over some wrapped twine which I thought added to the autumnal feel.  The panel was adhered to a mustard colored card base and some clear gems were added for interest.  I had some leftover die cuts so I also created a couple of generic tags.

Supplies:
Spellbinders - Envelope of Wonder dies set
Spellbinders - Autumn Wonder die set
Spellbinders - Small Die of the Month Dec 2018
Altenew - Many Thanks stamp set
Spellbinders - Scattered Fall embossing folder
American Crafts - twine

I hope you'll join us in the gallery.  My teammates have some beautiful cards showcased on the blog for inspiration.  Remember to use only the designated hues (as well as neutrals) in your design. Let's get the gallery hopping!

Thanks so much for visiting!

Seize the Birthday #293

Hello Crafty Friends!  It's time once again for a new Seize the Birthday challenge.  Shirley is our host this fortnite and she's chosen Dots as our (optional) Topping.  Once again I opted for a subtle approach.  Here's my card.

I chose both newer and older products from Spellbinders along with some polka dot papers from MFT to create my mostly die cut design which I believe is rather self explanatory.  I did double up on the vine portion using white cardstock as a shadow layer barely peeking out from the main aqua piece.  The panel is a deep navy as is the shadow layer of the heat embossed sentiments.  If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer them in the comments.

Supplies:
Spellbinders - Floral Oval die set
Spellbinders - Lots of Wishing stamp set
Spellbinders - Swallowtail Tags die set
MFT - 6x6 paper pad

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.  Just remember to make it a birthday card!

Thanks so much for visiting!

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #255

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is starting out October with a fan favorite.  We are looking for creations with a Halloween theme.  Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month is appreciated however it's totally optional.  Me, being the overachiever that I am, *wink* I went all in for Halloween Pink.

As usual, I pulled out all of my elements but began work on the background first since it needed some dry time.  I used a combination of Black Soot and Raspberry Preserve Distress Oxide inks for my blending.  Once it had dried back just a bit I added the black and white splatters.  I die cut the ghost and trick or treat bag in white and shaded them very sparsely.  The kitty was die cut in black.  (She's almost a mirage in the background.)  The sentiment was heat embossed in white once the panel had fully dried.

Supplies:
Spellbinders - Dancing Ghost die set
Spellbinders - Kitty Cats die set
Art Impressions - Fright Night stamp set
Distress Oxides

I invite you to visit our blog where our challenges are now one month in length.  I think most of you prefer that as we have seen an uptick in our entries.  Thank you all for that!!!  I'd love for you to leave some comments for my teammates and I hope to see your creations in the gallery.  Snark is much appreciated but not required.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Color Hues #96

If it's the first of the month, it's time for a new challenge over at the Color Hues challenge blog.  In anticipation of this month's celebration Julie B has chosen the color combo of Orange and Purple.  You all know how I despise purple but it's not so bad on a Halloween card.  And you can see that I purposely didn't use much.  Ha!

Yeah, I do love me some Zombies.  And Zombies with a bit of snark is even better.  :-)

I began with the background blending...purple on the bottom and a gradient of orange at the top.  I used a background stamp and black ink to create the ground and individual stamps to create the zombies, trees and sentiment. (I stamped right over the background colors.)  As a final touch I added the die cut fence to give us a bit more time to run away.  *wink*

Supplies:
Fun Stampers Journey - Zombies Attack! stamp set
Hero Arts - Graveyard stamp set
Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous - Zombies stamp set
MFT - Animal Farm Fence die
Distress Oxides

I invite you to visit our blog for more colorful inspiration!  At the time of writing it appears that most of my fellow teammies also opted for Halloween themed cards however the only requirement is that you use only Orange and Purple (along with neutrals) on your card.  I hope to see you in the gallery!

Thanks so much for joining me!
