Color Hues #33

I'm squeezing in some time to play with my friends over at the Color Hues challenge where the color duo this time around is Silver and White.

Love creating with the combination.
Hate photographing anything metallic.

The dotted background is a crisp white in real life but looks
gray here thanks to my amateurish photography skills.

As you can see by my photo, the colors are all off.  I used a silver metallic ink and a stencil to create the dotted background onto white cardstock which was then matted with silver metallic cardstock and adhered to a white card base.  Onto the panel I layered a burlap die cut (white cardstock), two die cut hearts (one white, one silver), an embossed sentiment strip and silver rhinestones.  The inside of the card says "how much I appreciate you."  This may turn out to be hubby's non-valentine Valentine.  :-)

Supplies:
Tim Holtz - Dot Fade stencil
Delicata - Silver Ink
Altenew - Burlap Texture die
Spellbinders - Jan 2017 DOTM
Neat & Tangled - Calathea stamp
Trinity - Silverstones

Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #202

Thanks so much to all who played along with the Sisterhood during our last challenge.  We had a full gallery of fabulously inked cards!  Our new challenge is somewhat similar in nature.  Can you guess what it might be from my card?

The chickens are none too happy with Mr. Bear's choice of snack.  ROFL!

We would like for you to pull out that often ignored gel plate and use it in the creation of your card.  You may use paints, pigment/dye inks or as in my example, alcohol inks.

My background was created on the gellie plate using yellow and gold alcohol inks, a stencil and a piece of Yupo paper.  I played around with the combination until I got the background pattern that you see here.  I stamped, die cut and colored the rather distraught foul and the oblivious bear.  The sentiment and chicken tracks were stamped in black pigment ink and heat set with clear embossing powder.  (Very carefully...the Yupo paper will melt.)  Finally I arranged everything onto the background which was adhered to a kraft woodgrain card base.  I have no idea who I'll send this too but the idea has been in my head for a long time so I'm happy to finally get it down on a card.

I invite you to visit our blog and hope you'll come play along with us.  We'd love to see another full gallery this fortnight!

Supplies:
Ellen Hutson - Good Egg stamp set
Ellen Hutson - All Inside stamp set
Ellent Hutson - Bear Ware 4 stamp set
Echo Park - Beach Towel stencil

Seize the Birthday #230

It's time for another card challenge over at the Seize the Birthday blog where Barbara has chosen Embossing as our next Topping.  I opted to use an embossing folder however heat embossing would also qualify.

I went with a mini slimline card base for something a bit different.  I began by dry embossing a piece of kraft cardstock cut to fit the card base.  I matted it with a narrow border of black cardstock before adhering it to my card.  I die cut and adhered two corner pieces and then stamped my sentiment.  (Yes, I stamped it after the embossing and it worked!)

Supplies:
Penny Black - Flower Flock die
Memory Box - Signature Greetings stamp set
Simon Says Stamp - Crystal Distortion embossing folder

I invite you to visit our blog and play along.  Use of our topping is optional however it must be a birthday card.

Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.

Perfectly CAS - January Challenge

Today I'm sharing a card created for the our monthly Perfectly CAS card challenge where the prompt is FLOWERS.

The idea behind this challenge is to use only 1/3 of your card space in the design.  It's definitely harder than it looks.

I used a combination of stencils and stamps to create my focal point.  This is actually a full panel stamp set however I masked it off so as to use only the upper right portion of the image.  I stenciled the large florals, stamped the greenery, stenciled the smaller florals and finally stamped the two piece sentiment.  I added in three small gold foil pearls as accents.

Supplies:
The Greetery - Fresh Florals stamp and stencil set
The Greetery - Opposites Attract stamp set

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery!

Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies - January 2022

It's time for our first Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies challenge of the new year.  I am still trying to find my 2022 groove so in the interest of complete transparency I'm showcasing a card I made awhile back but never posted.

The challenge is to use a die(s) on your card.  In this case my dies are in the form of background panels.

I began by stamping and coloring my image and sentiment onto a white card panel.  I die cut it with a rounded edge die and scored four horizontal lines along the front for some added interest.  I matted it onto a scalloped die cut panel cut from grey cardstock and mounted this whole thing to a white card base.  Nuvo drops were added as a finishing touch.  I think this empty bench pairs nicely with the sentiment.

Supplies:
WPlus9 - New Home stamp set
WPlus9 - Sunshine Layers die set
Sentiment - unknown

I invite you to stop by the Happy Little Stampers blog where you'll find several challenges posted at the beginning of each month.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery.

Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #201

Are you all ready for the 2022 Snark-fest to begin?  I know I'm in the mood for some good ole' fashioned belly laughs.  Edna and the Sisterhood are starting out the new year with a technique based challenge.  See if you can guess what it is from my card.

Did you guess Ink?

I love Lee's background, don't you?

I began my card by first creating an alcohol inked background onto Yupo paper which I then used to die cut my main sentiment.  I chose three dye ink colors to stamp out the graphic background and added in a black pigment ink for good measure.  I stamped out the sub-sentiment, adhered the die cuts to the white panel which I then adhered to an orange card base, adding in some clear droplets to finish it off.

Supplies:
Cas-ual Fridays - WTF stamp set
Altenew- Trigonometry stamp set
Simon Says Stamp/CZ design - All Caps die set

Choose your favorite inking technique(s) and get messy with us!  Snark is most appreciated but not required to play along.

Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.

Seize the Birthday #229

Are you ready to make some birthday cards?  That happens to be what we do best at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog and we're starting out the new year in a big way.  My friend and former CC&S DT teammate Vicky Hayes is joining us for the next two months as our Surprise Party Guest.  I adore everything she creates and am excited to be working with her once again.

Our first topping is actually the color combination of blue and gray.  If you're not a toppings kind of crafter any birthday card is appreciated however I do love a good challenge and totally went with it.

I have a box of new (to me) goodies sitting off the side of my desk and I am going to try my darnedest to put them to use.  I chose a cute rodent stamp set for today's card.

I began by coloring my rodent (mouse or rat???) in blues and grays adding in a bit of white gel pen accents to the finished image.  I used white pigment ink to stencil the brick background, grounding the piece with black and white stamped flooring.  I dug through my stash and found a blank sign to which I added the stamped hearts and word Pizza.  I positioned the rodent onto the piece and added a narrow black frame cut from glossy black cardstock.  The sentiment was heat embossed in white onto gray cardstock and die cut with the accompanying banner die.  I centered the entirety onto a heavy weight white card base.

Here's a look at the inside of the card....

Supplies:
Lalaland - Pizza My Heart stamp set
Avery Elle - Banner Bits stamp/die
Waffle Flower - Snail Mail stamp set
MFT - English Brick Wall stencil
Ink Blot Shop - Get Grounded stamp set

I hope you'll visit our blog for more inspiration.  You have until noon on Tuesday January 18th EST to play along.

Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.

Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge - January 2022

Happy New Year crafty friends!  I took a bit of a crafting break over the holidays but I'm ready to jump back into it.

My first post of 2022 is a DT card for the Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge where we're starting the year off with Anything Goes. It's currently a balmy 84 degrees Fahrenheit in Florida so I thought a holiday snowman was in order.

I stamped my snowman in the bottom right corner and then masked him off before adding some glittery snowflakes to the background.  I added interest to his hat and scarf with some gel pen dots, stamped the greeting and then hand drew the lined border.  I do believe he is a Florida snowman since he appears to have lost his torso.  *wink*

I invite you to stop by the Happy Little Stampers blog where you'll find several challenges posted at the beginning of each month.  I currently design for the Christmas team as well as the Die team however we offer other challenges if neither of these are your thing.  Come check it out in 2022 and play along!

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp - Build a Snowman
Simon Says Stamp - Falling Snow stencil
Nuvo - Moonstone Glimmer Paste

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  Let's make the best of 2022!  Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.

Color Hues #32

I created a quick graphic inspired card for the current Color Hues challenge.  Check it out....

Purples will forever haunt me but they're easier to work with when combined with a definitely favorite, red.

I think the creation of this one is pretty straightforward so I won't bother with the details.  Stamps and inks.  Easy Peasy.

Supplies:
Ellen Hutson - Voices in My Head stamp set
Ellen Hutson - Organic Elements stamp set
Ellen Hutson - Stay Cool stamp set
