It's time for a new challenge over at the Seize the Birthday blog. I have a love/hate relationship with our newest topping chosen by DT member Cathy. Any guesses?
Yep, Sparkle and Shine
I love using shiny cardstocks and glittery sprays to spice up card fronts however photographing the cards is always a struggle. The above card is no exception. Just know that it's far prettier in real life.
I began with the die cut gold sentiment which I inlaid into the white panel. I then splattered the panel with black ink before adhering it to a white card base. I die cut the bench and plant in black cardstock and adhered them to the card front. I then die cut the plant twice more, once in gold and once in vellum, both of which I adhered over the top of the black cardstock. I rather like the look of this design so you may see me CASEing myself in the future.
Supplies:
Whimsy Stamps - happy die
PaperTrey Ink - birthday die
MFT - Cat & Plant Perches die set
I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration from our team as well as our Guest Designer Vicky. I hope to see your card in our gallery!

ReplyDeleteSo pretty and shiny. Love how you inlaid the letters. Great card.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, card Jules. I agree those shines and sparkles are hard to photograph! But I can certainly see your shine in the sentiments! and I love the added splatters, too!

ReplyDeleteSo cool to see shiny vertical sentiments. I know that they are hard to photograph, but fun to actually see.
ReplyDeleteThe metallic shine looks awesome with the inlaid technique. Even with being hard to photograph, I can easily make out that its a fabulous card!
ReplyDeleteLove how you've inlaid the shiny sentiment Jules, your card has a lovely oriental feel, your spatters are perfection too, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteI love this design Jules so you might see me CASEing it too! Love the black and gold colour palette and those amazing black splatters. I feel your pain about photographing shine but I think you did a great job!! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteThis is terrific! I love your CAS design - perfect with the splatter and bold sentiment. Beautiful
ReplyDeleteThis card may well be prettier in real life, Jules, but it’s still pretty spectacular in photo-life! I love the modern minimalist style of it, and I may well be CASEIng it too!
ReplyDeletePlease don't try to understand the filing system that my old brain now maintains, but our conversation about photographing schparkle just popped into my head so I came over to see if you had posted the difficult card yet and wallah - here it is! Sorry I'm so late and backed up in online traffic, but I'm glad to have seen it, Jules. It's truly a great design - very schparkly and very well photographed! I am adding it to my "to-CASE" folder, too! Hugs, Darnell
