Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #213

Anyone else here a Zombie fanatic?  I actually use the theme song from the Walking Dead as one of my ringtones which attracts a lot of attention when my daughter calls me.  :-)

When Hero Arts came out with this set I had to have it.  Of course, like always, I'm only just now getting around to using it.  Why?  Because it's time to Come Alive with the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers because this fortnight's theme is

        Zombies!

How fabulous is this?!  Thanks Lee!

My card began with the stamping of the ground followed by the ink blending of my sky.  I stamped the silhouettes right over the top of the background inks.  (The use of a MISTI comes in really handy here since most of these were triple stamped.)  I paired the scene with what I thought was an amusing sentiment.  Maybe it's a zombie thing?  You tell me.

I invite you to visit our blog for more Zombie inspiration.  We have some wonderful "takes" on the theme.

Supplies:
Hero Arts - Graveyard stamp set
Simon Says Stamp - Paper Hugs stamp set

Seize the Birthday #241

It's another Seize the Birthday Thursday and we are celebrating the return of summer, at least for those of us located in the northern hemisphere.  Our Topping for this fortnight is Summer Activities.

If I'm being honest, my favorite summer activity is to remain indoors with the AC on. (I know my fellow Floridians can relate.)  But I do occasionally venture out into my pool and thought Blanche was totally appropriate for my way of thinking.  And no Art Impression character is complete without a tiny bit of snark.  *wink*

All she's missing is a pool side adult beverage.

I began by stamping, coloring and die cutting out my fabulous Blanche.  I did a bit of stenciling onto a white card panel, stamped the sentiment and then adhered Blanche over top.  I used a Versamark ink pad and a horizontal striped stamp to create a bit of interest to the navy card base before adhering my panel.  All that was needed was a few clay hearts to finish it off.

I invite you to visit our blog and look forward to seeing your card in our gallery!  If toppings aren't your thing, any birthday card qualifies.

Supplies:
Art Impressions - Blanche
Hero Arts - Swirl stencil
MFT - Anything But Basic Birthday sentiment set
Ellen Hutson - Striped background stamp

Perfectly CAS June Challenge

Are you a fan of Clean and Simple cards?  We have the ultimate challenge for you over at the Perfectly CAS card challenge blog.  Rather than our customary 1/3 design rule this time around we're shaving it to 1/4.

A simple card with simple instructions.  I stamped the sentiment block followed by the hummingbird which colored with Copics.  A tiny blue mat around the white card panel is attached to a white card base.  That's it folks.  Just a quick CAS card to make someone smile.  Challenge yourself and come play along!

Supplies:
Colorado Craft Company - Today & Always stamp set
Ellen Hutson - Backyard Friends stamp set

Just Us Girls #636

Today I'm playing with my friends over at the JUGS (Just Us Girls) challenge blog. Their challenge is to create a card with a moving element.  I dug through my new goodies and found the perfect thing.

Kitchen Utensils!

My utensils are attached only by mini brads so they swing freely on the the card.  (I knew my 20+ year old mini brads would come in handy again one day.  LOL!)

I die cut the elements in white cardstock and colored them in with Copics.  The b/w background is patterned paper.  The aqua background texture was achieved with an embossing folder.  The sentiment was heat embossed in white onto black cardstock.

I love challenges that get me to think outside my normal box.

Supplies:
Hero Arts - My Monthly Hero and add ons
Stampin Up- Painted Texture embossing folder
Honeybee Stamps - patterned paper (Farm Fresh Holiday pack)

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #212

It's time to get your snark on with another Sisterhood Saturday.  This fortnight we are looking for tags.  I made an executive decision and decided that a bookmark was really just a large tag.  Agree?

I'm gonna pop some tags.
Only got twenty dollas in my pocket.

Sorry...I couldn't help it.  :-)

I began by stamping, coloring and die cutting this crafty gal who I believe will known as Pearl.  The set comes with several snazzy hats but I chose one that would fit with this snarky sentiment.  I raided an older My Monthly Hero kit for the tube of craft paint which I colored to match her attire.  I die cut the bookmark from an old piece of patterned paper, adhered Mildred and then did my sentiment stamping.  I then added the hand drawn lines and some ribbon and twine to finish it off.

I invite you to visit our blog for more tag examples and hope you're inspired to come play with us!

Supplies:
Art Impressions - Miss Set stamp set
MFT - Scalloped Bookmark die
Simon Says Stamp / CZ Design - Sassy Flaps stamp set
Hero Arts - MMH May 2019 (paint tube)
Kaisercraft - patterned paper

Seize the Birthday #240

It's another Seize the Birthday Thursday and we have a fun Topping for you!  Do you have a favorite go-to technique?  If so, we'd love to see an example.

One of my favorite techniques is actually two fold.  I really love the look of a card created primarily in die cuts.  The two fold part comes into play because I always die cut my elements in white cardstock and then color each piece individually with alcohol markers.  Today's card is one example...

Each of these critters as well as the vehicle were die cut from Neenah Solor White 110 lb cardstock followed by hand coloring with Copics.  It's definitely a labor of love but I really enjoy the process.  It combines two of my favorite childhood activities....coloring and paper dolls.  (Anyone remember Betsy McCall?)

Once each element was colored I adhered the vehicle and each critter with liquid glue individually before assembling the entire unit.  The sentiment was stamped onto the license plate.  I also die cut three balloons in white and colored them in with identical colors, stamping them with miscellanous stamps from my stash to create some interest.

I used an animal print background stamp to create the cheetah print and created a hill of grass to ground the image before adhering it to a brown card base.  I'm not gonna lie.  A card like this takes some time but I find this very therapeutic.  Many love to stitch.  I like to color and paper piece.

I invite you to visit our blog and check out the various techniques used by our team.  Choose one of ours or one of your own and upload it to our gallery.  If toppings aren't your thing any birthday card qualifies.

Cottage Cutz - Safari Peekers die set
Erin Lee Creative - Leopard background stamp
Lawn Fawn - Party Balloon dies
Avery Elle - tiny alpha stamps

I invite you to visit our blog and hope to see your creation in our gallery!

Happy Little Stampers - June Christmas Challenge

It's time for a new gallery of entries for the Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge.  This month we are looking for Snowglobe designs however any Christmas card works.  Snow is nonexistant in my area of Florida so I'm always excited to make snow themed cards.  Here it is....

I began with a panel of dark blue cardstock which I ink blended around the edges to create a bit of depth and splattered on some white ink for some additional interest.  I die cut out the globe shape, popped in some die cut trees, added the shaker pouch and shaker bits, sealed it all up with some double sided tape and finally added it to the front of a heavyweight white card base.  I added the snowglobe base and die cut sentiment and this snowy card was complete.

I hope you'll visit our blog for more holiday inspiration.  Why not get started on your cards now?  We'd love to see them in our gallery.

Supplies:
MFT - Snow Globe shaker dies and shaker cover
Impression Obsession - Evergreen dies
Poppystamps - Merry Christmas die

Color Hues #42

Today I'm sharing my card for the current Color Hues challenge where the color pairing is Black and Yellow.

I wasn't very imaginative and totally went with what I think is the obvious. I have several bee stamps and honeycomb dies that haven't received a lot of love lately so it was the logical starting point for my card.

I began with a honeycomb die and four colors of cardstock (three yellows and a black) which were adhered inlay style onto the top right portion of a white card panel.  The bottom portion was created with a pegboard die using the middle hue of yellow cardstock.  The sentiment was heat embossed in white onto a black cardstock strip and adhered at the top of the pegboard.  Finally I stamped and colored a single bee and hand drew the flight line.

    Free Bees stamp
