CAS Colours and Sketches #423

It's another Sketch Tuesday over at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog and our host Shannon has a fun one for us to try.

As with all of our sketches, please feel free to
rotate and/or flip the design to fit your needs.

My immediate thoughts went straight to butterflies and/or florals but I wanted to create something a bit different.  How about toadstools?

I want to begin with the horizontal planks.  I am just so thrilled at how they turned out!  Believe it or not, these were cut from white cardstock and colored with the chisel end of a warm grey Copic marker.  You'd swear it was patterned paper, wouldn't you?  I just kept swiping the marker across the cardstock in horizontal motions, changing the amount of pressure I put to the paper.  Following the lines of the sketch, I adhered them to a panel of light grey cardstock cut a bit smaller than A2 size.

The toadstool/mushrooms were also cut from white cardstock and colored in with Copics.  I arranged them as indicated on the sketch, added a greeting cut from the same grey cardstock as the panel and adhered the panel to a white card base.  I successfully resisted the urge to bling.

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration.  We'd love to see your creation in our gallery.

  1. Oh this is such a wow Julie! Those toadstools are just fabulous and I love how you've arranged them on the hardwood planks. And then I read how you MADE the planks and nearly fell over!! Love the subtle grey card panel and the die cut sentiment too. You have outdone yourself! Vicky x
