Edna and the Sisterhood are back with another biweekly challenge. This time we'd like you to add a bit of texture to your snark.
Texture can be in the form of paint layers,
texture pastes, embossing, layered die cuts, etc.
Use your imagination and surprise us!
I built my textural card around a sentiment that I've been wanting to use for quite a while. I did a bit of stamp surgery to separate the sentiment for use on both the outside and the inside of my card.
Can you guess the inside based on the focal image?
I'm hitting a new decade with my next birthday
so I shouldn't laugh but c'mon...this is cute.
I first started with the background. It's difficult to see in the photo but I used a gel press, brayer and two shades of blue Distress Oxide followed by a white pigment ink to create the ocean-y background onto what was a panel of white cardstock. This gel press method provides the look of texture without any bulk. I die cut the sailboat in white cardstock and then ran the sails and the boat bottom through my die cutting machine using two different embossing folders. (a mosaic for the sails and a woodgrain for the bottom.) The boat, mast, stars and flag were all colored with Distress Oxides. I stamped the sentiment in a crisp black pigment ink and then adhered the background panel to a white card base. I positioned the sailboat between the greeting and thought it needed a bit more sumthin' sumthin' so I finished it off with a very narrow white frame.
I'm very happy to have another masculine card to add to my birthday stash and invite you to come check out our
blog, leave some lovin' to my fellow sistahs and upload your textural card to our gallery. Snark is much appreciated but not a requirement to play.

Footnote to my footnote: I also added this to the current
Seize the Birthday challenge where the prompt is Nautical.
Continue to stay safe and healthy my friends. _____________________________________________________________________________
