Happy Tuesday everyone! It's time once again for another weekly challenge over at the CAS Colours and Sketches blog and Wei has a fun sketch that she'd like for us all to try.
Because I didn't want any of this fabulous text background to go to waste, I created two cards this week. Here's my first.
And my bonus card.
I dove into my scrap drawer and chose a bright pink and a deep teal cardstock to create the circles but I wanted something bold to set them off. The plain black cardstock was ok but I decided to jazz it up a bit with a pattern. I stamped the text background onto the black cardstock and heat embossed it in white and was much happier with this look. The die I chose for the largest circle is actually a ring for a snow globe, meaning it cuts the outer ring leaving a large inner circle. I used the leftover circle on my first card and the ring on my bonus card so in actuality the circles are inlaid within each other, not stacked. I cut the smaller circles using assorted dies from my stash. The sentiments are actually from a set of premade sheets. I cut them out using a narrow die and then edged the exposed white core with a black marker. I showed restraint by adding bling only to card #2. :-)
I hope you'll stop by our blog. We'd love to see your card in our gallery!

Love that text background stamp Julie! I am tickled that we both went for a black, white and pink combo too this week - great minds and all that! Two great cards - I love the peacock colour in the mix on the second one too.
ReplyDeleteI love that the rings are inlaid Julie, it always looks so neat. Your black and white stamping was a great idea too. Gorgeous cards! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteThese are super fun Julie! The contrast of black and white is always fabulous.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are awesome! Bold and graphic, especially with the perfectly white-embossed text element.
ReplyDeleteI love your bold design! The black and white text is gorgeous paired with the pink!
ReplyDeleteBling-ed, or not, they are both fabulous, Jules! Loving the text!
