Thanks for Everything

I had this beautiful stamp/stencil set out recently to create a challenge card and it seemed a shame not to make a second one.  My original card was done in reds, yellows and greens so I turned to blues for this one.

I followed the stenciling guidelines provided by the manufacturer, adding in some stamped black dots for additional interest.  I cut the panel down so I could position the sentiment over white space.  I added two narrow strips of cardstock at the top of the panel for some differentiation.  After stamping the sentiment in black pigment ink I covered it with a clear sparkly embossing powder to create the glimmer.  The sub sentiment was heat embossed in white onto a strip of black cardstock.  I finished it off with a few glossy black enamel dots.

As the sentiment says....Thanks for Everything!

Supplies:
The Greetery - Fresh Florals stamp/stencil set
The Greetery - Written in Ribbons stamp/die set
Hero Arts - enamel dots
Wow - Clear Sparkle embossing powder

CAS Colours and Sketches #417

We've hit the last Tuesday of the month which means it's time for a new sketch over at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog.  Take a look at what Wei has designed for us.

As with all of our sketch challenges, please feel free to
rotate and/or flip the sketch to meet your design.

Once again I created two cards with this sketch.  First up is the one featured on the CC&S blog.

My background pattern was created with a narrow zig zag border die and a panel of blue cardstock.  I began by positioning the die at an angle, running it through my die cutter.  I lined up the zig zags and ran it through two more times, creating three narrow zig zag pieces which I set aside.  I positioned the remaining larger pieces onto a white card base, allowing the white to show through in between the zigs.  Clear as mud.  So sorry.  (Follow the finished photo design, not my explanation.  LOL!)  The greeting was gold heat embossed onto white cardstock, three layers in total.  To no one's surprise I finished it off with gold foil pearls.

Perhaps my second card will help with the creative process.  After finishing the navy card I was left with three narrow zig zags borders which I put to use on the card below.

I adhered the blue borders onto a white card panel at an angle as per the sketch.  The white panel was then adhered to a navy card base.  I die cut the sentiment in white and the shadow die in navy.  I threw caution to the wind and slathered the word in white glossy Nuvo drops and added a trio of dots to finish off the design.

We'd love it if you visited the blog and played along!

Supplies:
The Greetery - Macrame Open Basework
The Greetery - Written in Ribbons stamp/die set
Studio Katia- Gold Foil Pearls
Altenew - Bold Thanks die
Tonic Nuvo Drops - Gloss White

Color Hues #16

Today's card was inspired by the latest color duo over at the Color Hues challenge blog where they've chosen the 2021 Pantone colors of the year.

I'm still having fun with Anita Jeram's darling critter images and based my card upon a grey mouse.  I apologize for the less than stellar photo.  It took on a green tint and really doesn't do the card justice.

I began by stamping out the image which included both the mouse and sheet of paper.  I colored them with Copic markers and then ran the panel through my die cutter with an embossing folder to create the border.  I double matted the panel with patterned paper, one in yellow and one in grey.  Yellow gems were added as a finishing touch.

Supplies:
Colorado Craft Company - Thank You Kindly stamp set
American Crafts - embossing folder
Pretty Pink Posh - Pearl White Jewels

Seize the Birthday #212

A quick post of my latest card created specifically for the new Seize the Birthday challenge prompt of Spring Flowers.

I pulled out a NBUS product and went to town...

Photographed at an angle due to the metallics.

I began with the background which is a combination of stamping and stenciling.  I cut down the panel using a scalloped die and then mulled over my options for sentiments.  I decided on a gold metallic frame with an inset of vellum.  The Wish was heat embossed in white onto the gold metallic cardstock with the smaller sentiment being gold heat embossed directly onto the vellum.  I finished it off with some gold foil pearls.  Another birthday card to add to my stash!

Supplies:
The Greetery - Fresh Florals stamp/stencil
The Greetery - Birthday Blooms stamp/die
WPlus9 - Sunshine Layers
MFT - Stitched Oval dies

CAS Colours and Sketches #416

Hello friends.  It's time for another color challenge over at the CAS Colours and Sketches blog.  Wei has chosen a very pretty color trio for us this week.

For our color challenges, you must use all of the stated challenge colors. You may also use neutrals
such as white, ivory, black, brown, grey, or metallics; however, no other colors should be added to
your card. We use Stampin' Up color names for reference, but you are welcome to use any other
companies' products as long as you match the challenge colors as closely as possible.

After pulling out an intricate layering stencil it seemed a shame to make just one card so I created two.  I chose this first card to display on the challenge blog.

And here's a second similar, yet different bonus card.

The technique is similar for both cards.  I began with three dye inks that closely matched this week's color trio and used them to create the blended patterns through the five floral stencils in the set.  Both cards have a stamped black sentiment.  I heat embossed the sentiment in clear for card one.  The sentiment on card two has a layer of glossy accents over top as do the florals.  I used a decorative panel die and sequins to finish off card one.  The simple panel on card two is set off by a narrow white border with a finishing detail of glossy white drops on the small flower centers.

Supplies:
PinkFresh Studio - Hanging Garden stencil set
The Greetery - Opposites Attract stamp set
Mama Elephant - Peek a Frame die set
Tonic Studios - Nuvo Drops in Gloss White
Pretty Pink Posh - Sparkling Clear Sequins
Ranger - Glossy Accents

For more inspiration, please visit our blog.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery this week!

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #183

There is nothing wrong with your monitor.  Do not attempt to adjust your picture.  Edna is controlling the transmission.

I totally dated myself with my opening comments
but sometimes stream of consciousness wins out.

Our challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers blog this fortnight is Monochrome.  We'd love to see a monochromatic color scheme on your card with "bonus points" for snark.

I kept my card very simple....

I thought this stamp could stand alone as both the sentiment as well as the focal image.  As a bonus, it definitely could be used for a masculine birthday.

My process was quite simple.  I adhered a piece of black and white diagonal patterned paper to the vertical center of my black card base.  I heat embossed the large sentiment in white onto black cardstock and cut it out using a rounded rectangle die.  This particular die set includes a border piece which I used to create the white outline.  To give it a bit of dimension I stacked the inner portion with some additional cardstock pieces so that the black focal image sits a bit higher than the white outline piece.  It couldn't have been easier.

Supplies:
Riley and Company - sentiment
MFT - Gift Card die set
MFT - B/W striped patterned paper pad

Check out our blog for some wonderful monochromatic cards created by our DT and guest designer Carole.  We'd love to see your creation in our gallery!

CAS Colours and Sketches #415

Happy Tuesday everyone!  It's time once again for another weekly challenge over at the CAS Colours and Sketches blog and Wei has a fun sketch that she'd like for us all to try.

Because I didn't want any of this fabulous text background to go to waste, I created two cards this week.  Here's my first.

And my bonus card.

I dove into my scrap drawer and chose a bright pink and a deep teal cardstock to create the circles but I wanted something bold to set them off.  The plain black cardstock was ok but I decided to jazz it up a bit with a pattern.  I stamped the text background onto the black cardstock and heat embossed it in white and was much happier with this look.  The die I chose for the largest circle is actually a ring for a snow globe, meaning it cuts the outer ring leaving a large inner circle.  I used the leftover circle on my first card and the ring on my bonus card so in actuality the circles are inlaid within each other, not stacked.  I cut the smaller circles using assorted dies from my stash.  The sentiments are actually from a set of premade sheets.  I cut them out using a narrow die and then edged the exposed white core with a black marker.  I showed restraint by adding bling only to card #2.  :-)

I hope you'll stop by our blog.  We'd love to see your card in our gallery!

Supplies:
Poppystamps Snowglobe die set
MFT background text stamp
Assorted circle dies
Ellen Hutson - clear droplets

Happy Little Stampers - April Anything Goes With Dies Challenge

It's time for a new monthly challenge over at the Happy Little Stampers blog where the only rule is to use a die cut on your card.

I created a very simple yet colorfully Happy card.

I began by die cutting the word Happy in three different colors of cardstocks and the small florals in a fourth color.  I used a stitched panel die for the white background and heat embossed the sub-sentiment in white onto a narrow strip of black cardstock.  After first arranging a rough draft of my word placement, I adhered the three flowers in a corresponding triangle.  I then adhered the words in rainbow order, adding the sub-sentiment in the lower right corner.  The panel was adhered to a black card base and finished off with a pearl in the center of each floral.

Supplies:
Whimsy Stamps - Happy die
Simon Says Stamp - Hello You stamp set
Crafters Companion - floral dies
The Stamp Market - cardstock
Avery Elle - Wonky Stitches panel die

The Happy Little Stampers group holds many challenges each month so I encourage you to check them out.  Remember, if you use a die cut on your card, we'd love to see it in our gallery.

CAS Colours & Sketches # 414

It's the first Tuesday in April and hopefully spring has sprung in your neck of the woods.  Today we have a new color challenge up at the CAS Colours and Sketches blog, brought to you by this month's host Wei.

I reached into my new product stash to create today's card.

I used three colors of cardstock closely matching this week's color trio to die cut the plants,
vases and plant stand.  I adhered the grouping to a hexagon cut from white cardstock and then
again to a slightly larger kraft woodgrain hexagon.  I used an embossing folder to create the
texture on the white panel, stamped the sentiment and then adhered the panel to a kraft woodgrain
card base.  I was very tempted to add in a trio of clear droplets but in the end, I resisted.

Come check out what the Design Team has created.  I hope to see your card in our gallery this week!

Supplies:
MFT Houseplants die set
MFT Cat & Plants Perches die set
MFT Bitty Thanks stamp set
Pinkfresh Studios - Basic Label Frames die set

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #182

You know how I said I wouldn't be traveling this week?  Well, scratch that.  I ended up taking another last minute 3.5 hour (each way) road trip to north central Florida on Thurs/Friday and wasn't sure I was going to make the deadline for today's Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge.   But woohoo!  I'm here and breathing a bit easier.  So what's the new prompt for this fortnight?

D is for Distress

And truth be told, I'm feeling a bit distressed myself right now.

Please forgive my quick post as my card is quite literally Hot Off the Presses.  I know this is not unusual for some of my Sistahs however those who know me well know that I'm a planner and usually have my assignments completed weeks/months ahead of time.

Enough babbling....

The first thing I did was paint a panel of kraft colored woodgrain cardstock with Distress Paint in the color Picket Fence, ie, white.  I added several layers of paint, allowing it to dry in between coats.  While it was drying I stamped, colored (Copic) and fussy cut out the donkey image.  I also die cut the fence and grass, adding in a bit of distress ink and water droplets for some texture.

When my panel was dry I grabbed a piece of sandpaper and DISTRESSED the heck out of my perfectly painted panel.  I am loving the look and am rather pleased with my last minute idea.  (pat, pat.)  I stamped the sentiment on the lower portion of the grassy knoll, adhered some googly eyes to my @*#! and then assembled the card.  I stamped a second sentiment on the inside of the card.

Supplies:
Your Next Stamp - So Sorry Donkey stamp set
MFT - Rolling Hills die set
Ellen Hutson - Woodgrain cardstock
Ranger - Distress Paint in Picket Fence

I do hope you'll stop by our blog and check out what my fellow Sisters and Queen Tristan have created.

Perfectly CAS #13

Today's card was inspired by the Perfectly CAS #13 challenge.  I do love CAS but their 1/3 requirement is often a challenge for me.  I am currently in need of birthday cards so I accepted their challenge and even made a bonus card before putting away my supplies.

Here's my very simple take on the birthday challenge.

I started with a soft ink blended corner in the bottom right of the card panel.  I stamped the Happy using an scripty alphabet set and love how easy the letters are to align.  I stamped three florals in a triangle towards the left side of the sentiment, adding a white heat embossed sub-sentiment below the script.  I  finished it off with three gems in the center of the flowers and walked away.

The tiny floral set I used above also includes a fun Hello stamp so I created a second card while I had everything out.

I decided to add a few stamped dots to this version as well a few extra clear gems.  It's always nice to have an easy twofer and my Hello card can always double as a birthday card.

Supplies:
Taylored Expressions - Frayed Edge Masking Stencil
Ranger - Distress Oxide inks
Concord and 9th - Sophisticated Script stamp set
Concord and 9th - Friendly Hello stamp set
Simon Says Stamp - Hello You stamp set
Honeybee Stamps - Wedding Ring Rhinestones
