CAS Colours and Sketches #417

We've hit the last Tuesday of the month which means it's time for a new sketch over at the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge blog.  Take a look at what Wei has designed for us.

As with all of our sketch challenges, please feel free to
rotate and/or flip the sketch to meet your design.

Once again I created two cards with this sketch.  First up is the one featured on the CC&S blog.

My background pattern was created with a narrow zig zag border die and a panel of blue cardstock.  I began by positioning the die at an angle, running it through my die cutter.  I lined up the zig zags and ran it through two more times, creating three narrow zig zag pieces which I set aside.  I positioned the remaining larger pieces onto a white card base, allowing the white to show through in between the zigs.  Clear as mud.  So sorry.  (Follow the finished photo design, not my explanation.  LOL!)  The greeting was gold heat embossed onto white cardstock, three layers in total.  To no one's surprise I finished it off with gold foil pearls.

Perhaps my second card will help with the creative process.  After finishing the navy card I was left with three narrow zig zags borders which I put to use on the card below.

I adhered the blue borders onto a white card panel at an angle as per the sketch.  The white panel was then adhered to a navy card base.  I die cut the sentiment in white and the shadow die in navy.  I threw caution to the wind and slathered the word in white glossy Nuvo drops and added a trio of dots to finish off the design.

We'd love it if you visited the blog and played along!

Supplies:
The Greetery - Macrame Open Basework
The Greetery - Written in Ribbons stamp/die set
Studio Katia- Gold Foil Pearls
Altenew - Bold Thanks die
Tonic Nuvo Drops - Gloss White

Continue to stay safe and healthy my friends.   _____________________________________________________________________________

  1. I love your Yin and Yang cards Julie! Isn't it amazing how different they look, even though they essentially use the same colours. Love the Nuvo drops used all over the 'thanks' like that! Vicky x

  2. Your explanation definitely makes sense - but perhaps that's how I might make do for a makeshift die. The results are two beautiful cards! The navy and gold is gorgeous.

  3. Hi Julie! What a cool design - looks so different in white, but I am really drawn to the navy and gold. Love how you triple embossed the hello for all that added dimension! Thanks for letting me play along with you this month at CAS C&S!

  5. A twofer - what a great way to make the most of those diagonals Julie! They both look so different in the contrasting colours, but equally fabulous in that classic navy and white colour combo!
