Seize the Birthday #179

My tags are not caught up nor are my holiday cards finished but I'm throwing it all to the wind to squeeze in a few of my favorite challenges.  Today's card(s) were created with the current Seize the Birthday challenge in mind.  The toppings this time around are "A Touch of Red." 

I have two cards to share today.  I made the first one with just the tiniest touch of red.

My second card uses the same products but has a bit more red in the color scheme.  I created it for one of my long time girlfriends who celebrated a birthday last Saturday.  She loves gnomes and is currently into a skin care product that contains goat milk.  I incorporated both in her card.

She loved her card.  :-)  

The gnome and goat are from HoneyBee Stamps.  The birthday sentiment is from Altenew.  The scalloped border on card one is from LilInkers.  

Sorry to post and run but those holiday cards and tags aren't gonna make themselves.  LOL!

CAS Colour and Sketch #348

I've been missing my weekly challenge fix so last night I shoved aside (literally, SHOVED) my holiday cards and tags and whipped up a few birthday and thank you cards.  Today's featured card is for the CAS Colours and Sketch Blog where the prompt is...

I went through my Copics and found colors to closely match the Stampin' Up inks they use in their challenges.  Keeping it Clean and Simple as per their rules I came up with this....

I really love how it turned out and plan to make more once the holiday crunch is over.  The stamp is from The Stamp Market, one of my favorite newer stamp companies.  The frame is one single stamp so it's easy peasy to create a focal image that looks so much more complicated.

First off, my sincere apologies.  When I mentioned that I might be absent a bit I had no idea it would be for this long.  My computer died last Wednesday and had to be resuscitated by the Geek Squad.  I was so lost.  Far more lost than is probably healthy.  The good news is that it's working like new so I'm back in business.

The burning question....are my holiday cards done?  Ummmm....that would be a resounding NO!  Eek!  But I'm plugging away at them in between tags.  I'm also hoping to squeeze in another challenge card or two this week along with more tags.

Inspired By Challenge

I took a wee break from tags and holiday cards yesterday to whip up a very simple card inspired by what else?  The Inspired By Challenge Blog.  The prompt and photo are Blankets. 

It is still in the 80s here in South Florida so definitely not blanket weather yet.  But I loved the colors and texture of these beauties so I had to play along.  Here's my version....

I used a sheet of cream colored Woven Paper from an old DCWV 6x6 paper pack as my card front.  The colors I used for my ink blended background are shown in the photo.  The thanks word was die cut from a kraft colored sheet from the same pack.  The dies and stamps are from The Stamp Market.  The matte dots are from Gina Marie Designs.   This next photo shows the texture a bit better....

25 Days of Tags - Post 1

As I stated in my previous post, I look forward to Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Tags challenge every year.  I had oogled from afar for many years before jumping in and actually participating.  I think this is my third year and I still love it.

I always end up with far more tags than I could possibly use so I give them out as gifts.  I have already have message from friends asking for particular tags.  LOL!!!  Makes my heart happy.

*GASP* --- A Non-Challenge Card!

The busy time of year is approaching and if you're a card maker you know that it's already here.  My focus for the next several weeks is on holiday cards and tags.  I love to play along with Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags which started this past Monday.  Last year I made sure I had my holiday cards completed before the start of her daily challenge.  This year?  Yeah, didn't happen.  So while I hope to hop in with a few challenges here and there, I probably won't be participating much until mid December. 

Which brings me to today's card. Every year I mass produce one holiday design to mail out to my friends and family members.  I do a single design solely because I would never remember the card/recipient each year and I do not want to blunder and send out the same card two years in a row.  *Gasp*  The Card Maker Faux Pas!  So it's one card design for everyone! 

Because I'm very much behind this year I am forcing myself to go CAS.  (I say this every year but this time is 'fo reals.')  While I like this design below, I didn't love it.  I will use it for some of my local helper bees who help keep my life clean and beautiful.

I do have another design that I'm working on now which I love a bit more.  I'm chugging away assembly line fashion, alternating between it and holiday tags.  I need 85 this year so even with CAS, it's gonna take awhile.  If you don't see me here, I'm busy in my craft room.  :-)

Perfectly Clean & Simple #2

You've all figured out by now that I enjoy challenges.  If you're gonna make cards, you may as well play along with friends, right?  Today I'm playing with the folks over at the Perfectly CAS challenge blog.  What I am loving about this challenge is it's length.  They're one month challenges so I can fit them in to my routine without worrying about quick deadlines.  I also love the challenge of using only 1/3 of my card for images/sentiments.  The results are always so...well, clean and simple.

This month's prompt is Birthday.  

Keeping to the challenge rules and prompt, this is my card.  

One can never have too many celebratory wine cards if you ask me.  (Not with my group of friends anyway.  LOL!)  All stamps are from Clearly Besotted.  This could also easily be given to a masculine friend which makes it even more versatile.
