CAS(e) This Sketch #346

There's a cute sketch up at the Case This Sketch Challenge Blog where my Blogger/IG friend Michele is a design team member.  Here is the sketch....

Lots of fun possibilities with this one.  I went with a cute little critter from Avery Elle as my focal point.  

I adore this little otter and the sentiments in the set are darling.  I used a really old Polaroid die from Lil Inkers, backed it with vellum, and added my otter friend and his playmates (or are they lunch???) to the front.  I used two strips of designer paper from MFT Stamps to complete the sketch and finished it off with some clay hearts from Studio Katia.

CAS Colours & Sketch #345

Tuesdays mark the new challenge days at the CAS Colours & Sketch challenge blog where they alternate between just that, colors and sketches.  In month's with an extra Tuesday they make a double challenge where you must combine both a new sketch with a new color palette.   This is the new challenge....

I pulled out the same stamp set that I used in my previous challenge card.  (Which, by the way, was chosen once again as one of their top five.  Thanks ladies!)  With the challenge colors and sketch in mind here's what I created....

You can see in the closeup that the background color agrees more with the challenge color than it first appears.  

To create the background I blended some Catherine Pooler dye ink onto a piece of white Neenah card stock, spritzing it with water to create the texture.  The mouse and her supplies are again from the Doctor's Helpers stamp set from Create A Smile stamps.  The sentiment is from MFT Stamps.  

I hope I'm not in need of this card anytime soon but it will be great to have on hand when the situation arises.  Thanks so much for stopping by my little blog.  Hope to see you on the crafty side....

Favorite Boo

Quickest.  Post.  Ever.

I just wanted to pop in quickly to share the Halloween card that I made for my candy corn loving daughter. 

The background took a LOT of masking but I think it was well worth it.  To create it, I blended dye inks through the candy corn stencil (Simon Says Stamp) and then covered it with Tonic Moonstone Glimmer Paste.  The ghost and web are from Spellbinders, the BOO is another Simon product and the sentiment is from Neat & Tangled.  

My daughter is too old for trick or treating but she loved her card.  I hope everyone had a wonderfully sweet Halloween!

Seize The Birthday #177

The prompt over at the Seize the Birthday Challenge Blog is Candles.   

I opted for an "implied approach" to my card as you can see below.

I absolutely LOVE this extinguisher carrying old bitty from Art Impressions.  

She just makes me giggle.  

To create the card I stamped and then colored the image with Copic markers.  

I then stamped the front of a lavender card base with a chevron background stamp (MFT) 

using white pigment ink for a very subtle pattern effect.  

I added a few clay hearts and called her done.   

I wonder what "lucky" friend will be getting Gladys?  

(Have no fear Catherine, I won't be sending her to you again.  LOL!)

Sisterhood Challenge #146

The current challenge at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Blog is P for Pink and from the looks of things, Edna is very serious about Halloween. 

I didn't go "full on snark" but I am continuing with my tried and true, go-to alcohol theme.  What can I say...it just works.  :-)

I pulled out a variety of products in order to create my own sentiment.  Here's the run down...

Inspired By Challenge

I created my grandson's Halloween card based upon the inspiration photo at the current Inspired By Challenge Blog.  I love all of the prints represented in this table runner!

It's too bad I purged all of my Halloween papers about a year ago.  But I improvised using the color combos.  

I think he'll like his "not so scary" ghost.  All stamps and dies are from Simon Says Stamp brand products.

CAS Colour and Sketch #344

Hello Monday!  After a month of traveling here and there I think I'm finally home long enough to do some (consistent) crafting.  With only hours left in the challenge, I'm playing along with the folks at the CAS Colour & Sketch Blog where my color themed card was chosen as one of the winners last week.  Today's card however is based on the current sketch challenge. 

I pulled out some new to me stamps along with some tried and true older products from my stash to create my card.

I made this card specifically for a dear friend of mine who is recuperating from a really nasty surgery.  I know she will enjoy a little "pick me up" to her day.  

My supplies include the Doctor's Helpers stamp set from Create A Smile stamps....a really old border die from PaperTrey Ink....and the Candy Striped Background stamp from MFT Stamps.  I added the stripes using Versamark Embossing Ink for a more subtle tone on tone pattern than I would have gotten had I added designer paper.  I think it came out rather cute if I'm allowed to say so myself.
