Hello Crafty Friends!
I must have a thing for chickens nowadays. I recently shared hens from Spellbinders (a felt plushie and a card) and in a couple of days there will be a rooster showcased here on my blog. (I can tell you're on the edge of your seats. ROFL!) But today I am sharing with you a very nearsighted, bandana wearing Mother Hen all decked out in this week's Color Hues, courtesy of Marcia.
Why be normal, right?
I fell in love with this Mother Hen last fall when one of my Snarky Sisters sent me the most hilarious birthday card with her on the front. I HAD to have the set but of course it's been sitting in my NBUS bin for months. My card is far different from hers because...well, for one thing I needed to make her Blue and Yellow. And for another thing...this isn't that kind of challenge so I swapped out the sentiment. *wink* :-) She reminds me of a Rosie the Riveter type of Mama Hen.
I stamped, colored and fussy cut out Mama Hen. I added polka dots to her bandana and some glossy accents to the inside of her glasses. I found some barn like yellow designer paper and some chicken coop like blue designer paper and took it from there. I matted her using my favorite oval die set, heat embossed the sentiment in white onto navy cardstock and added in some loose feathers rather than my traditional gems.
Supplies:
Crackerbox Stamps - Miss Prissy
Honeybee Stamps - 6x6 paper
Spellbinders - Modern Oval die set
I invite you to visit our blog and play along in the gallery!
Thanks so much for visiting!

ReplyDeleteThis card is so cute and a good lesson for all of us right now. The barn yard paper was the perfect find to complete this design. It is fabulous, Jules. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour nearsighted, bandana-wearing Mother Hen looks like me - and yep, my feathers certainly are ruffled these days! Such a great, clever, ROFL card; perfect for our challenge and for bringing me a smile! Rooster, you say? Now I'm really on-the-edge-of-my-seat curious!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great stamp, she does have the look of one of the Chicken Run biddies! Sure made me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteI came in the front door, so I saw your Mister Chicken first and now I see Mrs. Rosie and love her, too! Every element and placement and color are well thought-out and executed!👌Love the dotty bandana and glossy glasses! Thank you for linking this one to NBUS, too! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteIsn't she marvellous - what a fabulous image. Stopping by from NBUS sharing some crafty hugs
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Jules whether you have a thing for chickens or not, this is so very cute. I love the big sunglasses and fun sentiment!
ReplyDeleteOh how creative and cute! Not to mention--perfect for the color combo!
ReplyDeleteI only have great excuses for being so late to comment on your fun card for this challenge! What a hoot this chicken is! My grandfather raised chickens so I've always had a soft spot for them.
