The gang over at the Seize the Birthday blog are back with a new prompt for this fortnight. Colleen is asking us to create a birthday card with a sunset scene.
I made a tremendous boo-boo on the design of this card. I'm sure it's obvious but I wasn't about to start over again. Let me know in the comments if you catch my error.
I began by die cutting the background so I could get a visual on my color placement. Keeping the pieces together I masked off the background with a open circle mask to blend in my sun. I then masked off the sun to ink blend the sunset sky and ground. I ink blended the die cut car in black to create a silhouetted look. The sentiment is stamped in crisp black pigment ink and it continues into the inside of the card. I popped the panel up before adhering it to a beige card base.
I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration from our fabulous designers. We'd love to see your card in our gallery!
Supplies:
Ellen Hutson - Abstract Mountain die
Cottage Cutz - Cars and Moving Truck die
Avery Elle - Simple Sentiments stamp set

I think your coloring is stunning, I am guessing maybe you meant to only have the top half of the sun showing? And the rest behind the mountain as it is setting? I am not sure the recipient would even notice that, so I think this is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to create your sunset scene. I would never spoil an artist's creation commenting on alleged flaws. Besides, what if it was one you hadn't noticed? ROFL!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome masculine card!
ReplyDeleteSince you are the artist that made this card. you can do anything you want. I think is is a great masculine card. I have found that if you put money inside, they don't even notice the outside. Haha!
ReplyDeletehahahahaha!
DeleteNo errors to be mentioned here! Nothing but creativity! Awesome card!
ReplyDeleteI'm not playing 'spotting the mistake' - not when the card is so great! I love how the colors are looking - kinda distressed - and I love how that adds to the simple die-cut look - its really fabulous how they gel so well together! I love it when the simplicity of a card makes so many things stand out and look great!!
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect to me too, such a cool design, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteI don't see any mistakes - this is stunning. This is such a great die and you made the perfect sunset scene. Love the colours.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fine to me. You are the artist and it is your creation.
ReplyDeleteLove the beautiful ink blending of your sunset sky! What a great birthday card! You could give this to your recipient with a quiz :) !
