Happy Little Stampers - May Anything Goes With Dies Challenge

It's time for a new monthly challenge over at the Happy Little Stampers blog where the only rule is to use a die on your card.

I recently took advantage of a great sale over at The Scrapping Cottage featuring their Cottage Cutz dies.  I couldn't resist these little gnomes and certainly couldn't wait until Christmas season to use them.

Aren't they just the cutest?

If you're not familiar with CottageCutz die sets you might be surprised to know that they come as all one piece.  I really like this feature since I'm constantly misplacing my pieces on my work surface.

The only "disadvantage" is that you either have to run this through your cutter multiple times with multiple cardstock colors or do as I did and run it through once with white cardstock and then Copic color each piece.  I enjoy the coloring process and find it therapeutic so I had a lot of fun with these.  I also love the assembly process.  It reminds me of Betsy McCall paper dolls that I LOVED as a kid.  (Anyone here old enough to remember those?)  I couldn't wait for my mom to finish the magazine so I could have the page.  :-)

After coloring and assembling each component I set to work on the scene.  I used patterned papers for the wallpaper and flooring and then stamped a sentiment onto the bottom center before adhering my gnomes.  I added a tiny white pom to the end of their caps to finish off the design.

If truth be told, I probably won't be giving this card away any time soon.  It just makes me happy.

I invite you to come play along with us at the Happy Little Stampers challenge blog where there's a challenge to match everyone's taste.  We'd love to see your creations in our gallery!

  1. Beautiful and adorable card! Your colouring is amazing on this. (My mother refused to have her McCalls magazines sullied by tearing out a page.)

  3. Wow! What an amazing card Julie! Those little gnomes look as though they are sitting on your card front thanks to your wonderful colouring! Such a special Christmas card to receive! I agree about the one piece die sets. Lucky we love to colour!!! :) :) Paper dolls were a part of my childhood but not in any magazine here is Australia. Just in a book I think. I recently bought one for a niece!! Great memories!!! Stay safe! :)

  4. Far too amazing a card to just give away to anyone... needs to go to someone special. I can see the amount of work that you've put into this. It's fabulous.
