I am very excited to be back guest designing for one of my favorite challenges, Seize the Birthday. Who amongst us doesn't need a constant stash of birthday cards, right? Any birthday card works for their biweekly challenges but I always enjoy creating cards with their toppings prompt which this time around is Snowy Background.
There is zero chance of snow here in South Florida so I welcome all opportunities to use my snowy stash items. Here's my card for today...
I had a lot of fun with this one! I began by applying texture paste to dark navy cardstock using a snowfall stencil. I immediately added some diamond dust to the wet paste for some wintery sparkle and then set it aside to dry while I worked on critters.
I stamped, colored (Copics) and die cut my polar bear, penguin and rabbit along with a trio of fir trees. I created a ski slope using a border die and white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment and then assembled my scene onto a white card base. As a finishing touch, I added some white glitter glue under their snowboards and along the slope. I think this came out really cute and it was fun to create something a bit different.
I invite you to check out all of the wonderful inspiration on the STB blog and hope you'll play along!
Supplies:

It's a New Year! Continue to stay safe and healthy my friends.

What a fun card Love the adorable critters and your snowy scene. I am with you on the no snow here in Florida. I'll take the sunshine any day but I do like creating the snowy cards. Glad you are Guest Designing with us at STB
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.
Just because it's 2021 doesn't mean you should tempt fate with the "oh it'll never snow here" line... :D Your nighttime trio of snowboarding critters are awesome!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute card! Love the snowboarders :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so great! Love that you used texture paste for the snow. Great colouring and love the touch of glitter.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about not getting to use snowy scenes here in SW Florida. That is why I chose this topping. You did an amazing job with this challenge. As well as the snow, you created a sweet gang of skiers, something that is a rare sight here too. I love my Wisconsin snow, just not here.
ReplyDeleteThis came together so well even for a Floridian! ;) I love that you used embossing paste for the snow and your trio of skiers look to be having a ball. I don't do cold weather well, so I will leave the skiing to them. It is actually even too cold for me this morning. Have a great day and thanks for making our STB challenge shine with this great card! BRRRR!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun card, love the sparkle in the embossing paste and under the snowboards. Those little critters are adorable :) Cathy x
