Challenge Accepted!

Welcome Back!

I love participating in card challenges.  They get me stash diving while also prodding me to use colors and styles outside my normal zone.  One of my favorite challenges of late is the Inspired By Challenge with Laurel.  Her inspiration board this week is themed Bright and Cheery using a bright blue and lime green color scheme.  Taking my cue from the colors led me to this fun little card.

I combined a scooter die from Spellbinders with an Ellen Hutson background die to create my fun little scene.  The balloons (part of the scooter die set) were colored with Distress Oxides as was the lime green background you see peeking out from behind the die cut diamonds.  (I used a clear embossing powder over the green background to give it a bit of shine.)  The sentiment strip was created using white embossing powder onto a strip of black cardstock.  (Again, the totally awesome Simple Strips Set from Taylored Expressions.  I love this set sooooo much!)  It's topped off with a striped background paper from The Stamp Market.

This second photo illustrates the shine I mentioned above.  I used a thick embossing powder which gave it not only shine but also texture.  I believe the bling accents are dew drops from HoneyBee Stamps however I'm not currently seeing them on their website.   (All other product links are below.)

Overall, I think it's such a fun card and with the slightly generic sentiment it's not limited to just birthdays.

Off to see what's next on "my" challenge list!
Thanks!

Jules

  1. Jules, your little scooter is adorable! and, yes, it could be parked in front of any party at all! But I'm sure glad to see it has arrived at IB! Thanks for playing!
