CAS Colours & Sketches #366

Time flies.....NOT.  Regardless of whether we know what day it is (or not) I'm here to tell you that it is Tuesday and time for another challenge over at the CAS Colours and Sketches blog.  Today we have a sketch from our hostess Patricia.

Getting right down to business, here is my card.

I stamped images from several stamp sets to create my bedroom scene and used Copic markers to color it all in.  I added some patterned paper to the top portion of my card base, die cut the image panel, and then added it at a angle per the sketch.  The sentiment was heat embossed in white at the bottom left of the card panel.

I used a white gel pen to create the dots on the comforter as well as the stripes on the pillow case.  I made sure she had lots of books to keep her company.

Seize the Birthday #187

Forced CoronaCation is providing ample opportunities to play in my craft room.  Today's card was created with the  Seize the Birthday challenge in mind where the topping this go around is Spring Fling.

The first thing that comes to my mind are flowers but I wanted to try something a little bit different.  This is what resulted...

I used a panel die to cut the the delicate white florals which I placed over top of orange cardstock.  I fashioned an envelope using rectangle and square dies and inserted the stamped greenery inside.  The sentiment was stamped in the same green and I finished off the card with some green and orange jewels.

CAS(e) This Sketch #367

I'm hopping on tonight for another of what I refer to as "drive by" posts.  Today I played along with the folks at the Case This Sketch challenge blog.  Here's the current sketch:

And here's my take:

I began by adhering a gradient of pink cardstock strips to a piece of black cardstock.  Using my MISTI, I stamped the leaf onto the gradient strips and then again on a piece of white cardstock which I used as my front panel.  I then adhered the horizontal striped portion over the top of the white panel using the stem and the tip of the bottom leaf as my positioners.  I glued this down onto a black card base, stamped the sentiment below the stripes and added some pink jewel dots.

CAS Colours & Sketches #365

Do you know what day it is?  Me either.  LOL!  Oh wait!  It's Tuesday which means we have a new challenge up at the CAS Colours & Sketches blog today.  Our hostess for April is Patricia and she's starting us out with a color challenge. 

The idea is to create a card using the three colors illustrated above it.  As always,

 you may use whatever brand of ink, cardstock, markers, etc you have in your stash

as long as they're similar to the Stampin' Up ones named above.  You are also free to 

add neutrals but this trio of colors should be the only other ones used on your card.  

I decided on a very non traditionally colored rainbow for my card today.  Rainbows are happy and I think the world needs a bit more happy right now.

I die cut the simple rainbow and clouds and then applied three colors of Distress Oxide inks to color in the arches.  I die cut the front panel, added a stamped sentiment and a few enamel dots, and this card was done.

Seize the Birthday #186

Today's card was created with the current Seize the Birthday challenge in mind where the theme is Kids. 

I do make quite a few birthday cards for children however this time I made a personal challenge to myself....No Sharks.  LOL!!!  

I pulled out a "never seen ink" stamp set and went to town and am rather loving the result!

Ordinarily I do not put this much coloring effort into a card for a child who is just going to crumple it up and throw it aside but right now, I ain't got nothin' but time.  Right???  

All images were colored with Copic markers.  The swimming pool is ink blended with Distress Ink as is the soft yellow card panel.  The sentiment was stamped and heat set in white onto black cardstock.  I added a few clear dots to finish it off.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #157

With everything going on in today's world it's important for us to maintain a sense of humor and Edna certainly has a great attitude.  This week she's rocking to the tune of Retro.  And damn, she's sporting some finely defined legs there.

SOSS Challenge #157 R is for Retro

Retro can mean a lot of things to a lot of people, especially ones of different age groups.  I had several ideas but in the end decided to shop my stash for something that will be appropriate to some crafters.  

Funny little personal story....

One of my son's favorite t shirts as a teen had a logo of a 45 rpm spider, also referred to as an adapter.  Remember these?

He had bought the shirt himself and so one day I asked him if he knew what the logo was.  Nope.  Not a clue.  He just thought it "looked cool."  I felt very old explaining the concept to him.  LOL!!  

Ok...back to my card.  :-)

I stamped and colored the turntable image with Copic markers and Polychromos pencils before fussy cutting it out.  I used a wave background stamp to create the white embossed image onto black cardstock.  I did a bit of creative masking on the sentiment.  The original says "relax, vintage is totally cool right now."   I taped off the word "vintage" before stamping and heat embossing in white.  I then stamped in the word RETRO in the blank space and heat embossed it in teal.  I added some enamel dots and really love how it turned out.  

Question....do any of you still own your LPs/45s?  I have four LPs displayed on craft room wall.  I also still have my 45 collection which includes the original Bohemian Rhapsody/We Will Rock You by one of my favorite bands ever, Queen.  And me being the OCD nerd then that I still am today, I have each and every album/single labeled in Sharpie with my initials and month/year that I bought them.  Yep.  I was born this way.  ROFL!!

Inspired By Yellow

I will be honest.  Yellow is one of my least favorite colors so this card was a real challenge for me.  But I faced it head on and think in the end that I may have gone a little bit overboard.  You decide.

Here's the the current inspiration piece over at the Inspired By Challenge blog.

And here is my very yellow card.

I started with a cup/saucer/floral stamp and die set which I colored with Copic markers.  I cut a panel of Neenah Solar White cardstock and did some Distress Oxide blending in two shades of yellow, concentrating most of the color on the bottom right portion. I added a die cut background piece over top of the background and adhered the cup/saucer/floral die cuts over the top.  I adhered this whole thing to the front of a light grey card front.  To finish it off I added the tiny stamped sentiment and some clear sequins.  Too much yellow???
