Color Hues #112

Today's Color Hues challenge is brought to you by Stef.  She has chosen Peach and Cobalt as her color duo and I decided to create a card using several hues of each.

I began by browsing my scrap drawers for three hues of each color.  I cut them into strips and adhered them, darkest to lightest, to a scrap of white cardstock, abutting each piece tightly to the one prior.  I die cut a large heart from both a white cardstock panel as well as a piece of craft foam, adhering them together for some dimension.  (These were cut narrower than the A2 card base for something a bit different.)  The colored strip piece was positioned over top of the card base so that it peeks through the die cut heart panel when it's placed over top.  A couple of thin strips of blue cardstock were added to the vertical sides for a bit more interest.

Supplies:
Spellbinders - Essential Sentiments stamp set (older set)
Spellbinders - Sketched Floral embossing folder (older set)
Memory Box - Cherub Hearts die set
assorted cardstocks

I invite you to visit our blog for more wonderful inspiration and hope to see your card in our gallery!

My Personal Protest

I do try to keep my blog and Instagram accounts free from controversial subjects however the time has come for me to speak out in my own crafty way.

If you do not share my views and wish to unfollow me that is your perogative.  There will be absolutely no hurt feelings on my part.

But today, on No Kings Day, when our Failure in Chief has decided that his multimillion dollar birthday party is more important than using that money to better the lives of working Americans and law abiding immigrants I need to voice my dissent.

And what better way to begin other than with the Notorious RBG.

Next up is my take on a meme I've seen floating around.  It's a sad world when you can ask the smallest of questions and everyone knows exactly what you're talking about.

And don't even get me started on the tariffs and their affect on small businesses, especially our beloved crafty shops.  Behold the Taco Truck.....IYKYK.

I'm actually happy that I don't have any dies that could be used as ICE agents because that card would not have been pretty.

No matter who you voted for, this IS NOT OK.

Thanks for visiting.

Seize the Birthday #307

We're halfway through the month of June which means that it's time for another round of fun over at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog.  Barb is our host and she's chosen Fancy Fold as her Topping.

I rarely create anything other than traditional card bases so I had to put on my thinking cap for this one.  I have no idea what you call this design so feel free to inform me in the comments.

This is what it looks like folded up with a belly band.

Removing the belly band it unfolds to this.

To create the fold I began with a sheet of teal cardstock cut to 5.5" x 11.0".  I scored it at 1.25", 5.5" and 9.25".  I folded it in half at the 5.5" mark.  I folded the left side in and the right side out.

I die cut two scalloped borders from red cardstock and adhered them to the outside edges of the card base.  I chose a small polka dot paper to add to these folded sections as well as the inside center.  This is also where I stamped my birthday sentiment.  I stamped a text background onto the two remaining front sides for a bit of interest.  I made a belly band from white vellum and adhered some die cut florals to the center.  I added a few of the leftover florals to the inside.  It's almost like a mini scrapbook album when completed.

Supplies:

I invite you to come join in on the fun!  If you aren't a fancy fold kinda person (no worries...neither am I.  LOL!) then create and share a new birthday card.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #263

Hello Crafty Friends!  The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is here once again to bring you another month long challenge.  For the month of June we are looking for cards related to Pride.  (You can interpret that however you choose.)  I opted to go all in celebrating the Pride Rainbow.

I cut scrap pieces of cardstocks to create a horizontal design, in rainbow order of course.  I stamped my puffy bird onto a white tag so it didn't get lost in the design.  And because I couldn't help myself, I colored it in vertical rainbow stripes using Copic markers.  I added a few colorful pearls as embellishments.

Supplies:
Unity - Flock Talk stamp (NBUS)
Sunny Studio - Build a Tag 1 die set

I encourage you to check out our blog for more proud and colorful inspiration from our team.  We would love to see your card in our gallery!

Thanks so much for visiting!

Color Hues #111

Welcome to the first day of June!  I would say summer is near but living in Florida, it's summer eleven months of the year. *sigh*

Today I'm sharing a card for our Color Hues challenge.  Sheri is our host and she's chosen the pretty combination of Coral and Green.   We ask that you not include additional colors (with the exception of neutrals) in your creations however you are encouraged to use multiple hues of Coral and Green.  You will see that I've done just that.

I combined three "new to me" die sets from Spellbinders to create my design.  I created a bouquet of flowers, added a pretty bow and adhered the elements to a matted scalloped frame.  I stamped a sympathy sentiment on the inside so as not to distract from the pretty design.  I even skipped embellishments this time around.

Supplies:
Spellbinders - Field Notes Twine
Spellbinders - ColorWheel cardstocks

And because all dies are being used for the first time I'm also sharing this over at Darnell's NBUS blog.
